Default Does the 8830 data work in Chile

I'm leaving Sao Paulo today heading over to Santiago. Does the data plan work in Chile. It does not work in Brazil.

I am going to guess that you never called and had the SIM card activated and provisioned for international use. While I don't know about Verizon, my Sprint 8830 worked down there just fine.

Actually no. I've used my 8830 all over Europe with no problems. It is a Verizon SIM and has always just worked.

My Verizon BB worked in Brazil with no issues. See what providers are available, and try another one if the current one is not working.

Have you tried to explicitly request use of the GSM network?

Call it the compulsive side of my personality, but I always force it to GSM. It usually allows you to select the network then as well. Glad that fixed it for you.
