In the electronics world, mixed with the fast-paced, glitzy and "gotta have the best" world of celebrities -- yeah, I'd say that's pretty old. Especially with RIM trying to market the Pearl to a bit more of a hip crowd. I was actually surprised that she still uses the 8703.
There, someone said it.

CellularOne is still around, we just signed our company contract over to them at the beginning of this month. Yes they were bought out, by ATT and should be completely ATT in a few months.
Actually, we were told by our Account Exec some major changes should be done by Dec. 9th which will help out with the CellOne service a lot. Guess we'll see, but they have done quite well for us and give us coverage where no other carriers have service, which is our main operation and where 75% of the calls are made. It is nice having service for a change.

I guess the screen is easier to do coke off of.
Love the stability of my 8703e. Been tempted by the younger models, but the old battle axe does everything I want.

8703e sound quality
For those that have tried newer models...is the voice quality comparable on 8703e? Many report horrible background noise on newer versions..what the person you are calling hears...is it the same on 8703e or better?

When my 8703e breaks and Sprint offers a curve, THEN I'll upgrade but no until then.

The 87xx series is still much preferred in the business world. It's a solid performer! And it's not a matter of the corporate world lacking any taste for flashy things like Pearls-- in certain sectors, cameraphones are strictly prohibited in the workplace.
A colleague of mine was sporting his snazzy new Pearl, only to have security hold onto it while he was in the building. It was pretty funny, he was without calendar, notes, and email for the whole day for the duration of the engagement. He even had some of his email forwarded to my trusty camera-less 8703e!
Personally, it's solid as a rock.

I agree, the 8700 rocks! Too many businesses and government buildings (like courthouses) will not allow camera phones in. On top of that, they will not be responsible to hold on to it so you have to go back to your car and lock it in there. The Curve is a great phone, but is geared for the consumer market more than business. RIM made its reputation in the business world and I hope they always will offer a good phone like the 8700 without a camera.

Upgraded (?) to an 8310 last month but can't quit thinking about my trusted friend, the 8700c. It has been awfully difficult to let go, and still may go back. We've been together so long and never missed a beat.

I'm on my third 8700v now. I use it a lot and the scroll wheel stopped working I think it's better than 8800 and 8300. If nothing else it has the best keyboard there is.

I think they laced the 8700 keyboard with crack because you guys are insanely attached. While I still have and respect my 8700g, now that I have a 8320 Curve I can't imagine going back. Smaller, just as capable, more productive... What's not to like about the Curve? The trackball takes a little getting used to but I'm sold on it.
Now, that said, I also manage a fleet of about 30 BBs, half of which are 8700g's, the rest 7100's and a couple curves. The 8700s have been rock solid and the only hardware failure we've had in 20 months has been due to water damage. They are very durable and the 4.2 OS is a good update. I'm not in a hurry to replace them, but those that do get replaced (usually the 7100s) will be replaced with 8320s.
I am definitely more concious about protecting the Curve. It does seem more fragile or delicate than the 8700. But I also realize its a tool, not a fashion statement. I issue them with OEM black skins and leather swivel cases. So far so good.

8700 Rocks
the 8700 definitely is not out dated. I bought mine and shortly after, the Mrs. decided she wanted one. So now we're a matching phones. Updated both with the 4.2 software even uploaded the Bphone theme on both.....
The curve is cool even the World Edition is nice, but the 8700 is my hip hugger.
