I just jumped back into the BlackBerry thing by selling my iPhone 4 & buying a used 9000 Bold from a Craigslist seller. Everything works ok...except that I'm not getting the red * email & SMS notifications on my homescreen. Actually...they do show up on the tiny icons in the upper left hand corner, but not on my larger menu on the bottom dock.

I've done a battery pull...and no change.

Am I just being a dummy and missing something? Please help!

Nope. Stock AT&T theme.

Please, somebody help me here. This is driving me crazy!! I'm getting emails and texts late and business-wise this is not good...

Check this..... I'm trying to figure out if it is the idicator at the top of the screen or the * indicator on folder..... but you test and see....

Open messages folder/app. Open menu. Select options. See if the "Display New Message Indicator" setting is set to No. If so, set to Yes and see if that fixes your issue.

It's set to "yes" already. Grrrrr....

Yeah, Grrrrrrrrr....... I'm stumped.

Some guesses in no particular order:

Try a change of theme.

Delete the email service books then re-send.

Try a security wipe, then restore your data. (Do a full backup first.)

No clue whether any of the above will work. Just a thought it might clear some glitch that has happened.

1. Already using stock theme...don't want to further mess with this

3. I would but employer has blocked USB port usage on company PC's so I cant use BDM...grrrr again!

There should be one or two additional carrier themes installed, besides the one you are using, right? You wouldn't have to download another theme. But at any rate, I really doubt it will make any difference.

The security wipe is the one I would put my bet on working, though I consider it a longshot bet.

I am thinking something is corrupted somewhere. Oh well...

Looks like I need to find a deal on a nice 9700 instead.

It isn't something you can't fix. Worst case you could wipe the OS and resinstall it, or do an OS upgrade. However, you'll need to jave a computer you can connect to.

The last method to fix this I read was to move the said icons off the main screen [to the 2nd row for example] and save. Then go back and move them.
