Default Google Maps/Locations

Anyone finding that Google Maps location-finding (not through GPS) has gone way off in the last couple of weeks? I'm on TMO in LA, and each time I ask it for my location I'm further and further out towards the ocean - I had better learn to swim! Ditto for results for friends through Latitude - there it seems to give me results for two days ago.

Just out of curiosity... why aren't you using GPS?

I was thinking the same thing. I'd figure it would be hard to truly pin-point your location with no gps tracking.
I mean even with GPS enabled it's only able to track 800 meter's (current) within my location.

This post was really a matter of curiosity - I generally know where I am (especially if I'm actually at home). But it was also about inaccuracies in Latitude, which becomes pretty useless if it's 5 miles off.

GPS doesn't work when I'm inside, athough I actually find it very accurate if I'm outside and really want to know where I am.

Latitude sounds like a great idea. But I agree, my friend also uses it and it's basically saying she's SOMEWHERE within the city she's in, and that's pretty constant. hahaha

Yes, because that's how she set it up. It's this way by design.
With Latitude, you can either show your friends your exact GPS location, or you can choose to only show then the current city you're in. (for privacy reasons)
My guess is your friend doesn't want you to know exactly where she is.

800m is still far larger of a margin than I ever get with GPS (typically 3m).

That was from inside, I should check outside and see what on average I get.

You granted Google Maps all the permissions when installed right?

My GPS settings. (8900 maybe different than yours)

GPS Data Source: Device GPS
GPS Services: Location ON
Location AidingL Enabled

Are you running the most current OS of your phone?
Did you try a battery pull?
Was it working and now failed? (or did it fail after installation)

Mine also appears:
Latitude: N 0 degrees 0.00 degrees
Longitude: W 0 degrees 0.00 degrees
Fix Time: None
Number of Satallites: 0
Accuracy: 0.0m

Unless you: (In GPS options) Menu >Refresh GPS
Then it should refresh your location. (See if it registers anything, this might be your problem)

Try updating your OS might fix the bug.

Well then there's your problem, my guess is that the OS you have has bugged your GPS. I'd try a beta OS if possible, or downgrade your OS and see if anything has changed, it's a pain.
Unless someone else has run into this, and has found a quick fix.

What OS is it?

Edit; Are you doing this indoors?!

Ah ok. Just confused as your earlier post said "...even with GPS enabled...".

To clarify for others -- GPS is moot if you're indoors or anywhere that the receiver can't lock on satellites.

Exactly, for some reason forgot to clarify that earlier. haha

On average outside 3 meters.
On average inside 500/800 meters.

I live in a ranch style house, and even indoors, Google or even the standard BB maps get me within a few meters of where my recliner is.
