Default Calendar syncing issues

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all, I just got my Pearl yesterday and I'm having a lot of fun with it =)

To get my old contacts from a bitpim import to my new BB, I imported them into Outlook and synchronized them over without any trouble. I hit sync, it gave me a prompt to sync the contacts, I accepted, the end.

Now I'm trying to sync my calendar, but I must be doing something wrong as its not working. I selected my outlook calendar just liked I selected my contacts (the right version of Outlook was selected as it only lists one to choose from). I tried both one way and two way synching. When I hit synchronize, it brings up the progress bar, does a couple thing, says "One Moment Please" and then my computer beeps, the box closes, and I'm back at the main synch screen. Nothing happened on either end (calendar still blank in BB), and if I check the log to see what happened, it doesn't even have the sync in there (only my address book sync).

Am I doing something wrong here..?

BlackBerry Search Results

I followed those instructions to get advanced logging, but I guess when the synch quits out before it gets to logging, because the logs don't get generated

I tried clearing out my Outlook calendar, adding something to my BB, and synching it from my device to my PC. Same thing happens, it bails out and nothing changes. This is getting frustrating! :(

Yes I have, although I wasn't sure that it pertained to me because I'm running the most up to date Desktop Manager (4.3) and I'm not actually getting any visible error. However, I tried deleting all my calendar entries to see if the calendar bug specified was the culprit, but I still got the error.

I just tried a hard reset, and if that doesn't work I will try renaming the folder.

In the mean time, do you have any other suggestions in case either don't pan out?

What version of Outlook are you using?

Outlook 2000 and 2002 are not compatible with DM 4.3.

If that is your issue, uninstall DM4.3 and download and install DM 4.2, Service Pack 2.

As I suspected, renaming the folder and the hard reset did not change anything for me. I still get no error except for the audible windows error sound and then the window closes and goes back to the Synchronization manager window.

edit: for the previous post, I am using Outlook 2007

This probably isn't it, but check this:

Options>Advanced Options>Default Services

Is the Calendar (CICAL) setting set to the same email address as your Outlook account? If not, set it to match your Outlook account and try again.

I had heard some talk of issues w/4.3 DM and 2007 Outlook, but don't have any details...

You could try "downgrading" to DM 4.2 SP2 (which is what I use) and see if that works any better.

You can get it here:

Do you have any suggestions for downgrading? Do I need to uninstall 4.3 first?

Also, do I lose any important features and do my 4.3 backups work with 4.2?

Uninstall 4.3. Install 4.2 Sp2.

You lose the Roxio Media Manager (or drop back one version, maybe). no great loss IMHO.

I've been using 4.2 SP2 for months...no real issues at all. (Outlook 2003.)

If I don't have Media Manager in this version, what's the best way of getting files onto my Blackberry until I get my microSD card in the mail?

roxio is on the 4.2 version of DM. i *think* its an earlier version of the software, but still works... as well... as the 4.3 DM version

I'm gonna be honest it's one of the worst pieces of software I've had to use. I would gladly take any other alternative in the mean time until I get my microSD card

Man I have the worst luck ever. I ran 4.2 and went to configure my sync, and I got "Intellisync internal error (see logs)". I went and deleted the AppData\RIM\BlackBerry\Intellisync folder and I get the same thing...

Anyone know where the logs are so I can check them out?

edit: weird... I went and tried it again (without even shutting it down) and it worked

It doesn't work with 4.2 either, it does the exact same thing. Progress bar, "One Moment Please", beep, close... should I just kill myself now or wait til a little later?

Your sync log will be in DM > Sync.

One of the buttons there has the logs.

No unfortunately it still doesn't work. What I was referring to that was "working" earlier was simply being able to click the Configure Sync button, because it wasn't working for a moment there.

The log is empty, it doesn't show any of the previous failed attempts.
