a suggestion for those with the html option but stuck with empty boxes:
go to ->option->advance settings->tcp
set apn according to ur service provider (mine was t-mo(usa) so..wap.voicestream.com or internet2.voicestream.com)
some of the providers apn settings-->SHAPE Services - FAQ section - BlackBerry TCP settings page
then delete service books and resend them->battery pull...
worked for me hope the same for you Good Luck

Mine worked for 2 messages, then it crapped out again. ugh

Edit: I noticed that I can get images, when connected to EDGE, but not when I'm connected to UMA.. I will investigate further...

when I have messaging problems I just do the CICAL and CMIME. you should have one each for each account you have configured.

Thanks for the hint - this worked for me. Couldn't get any images on my BB 8820. Simply turned off WiFi (thereby ending UMA) and now selecting 'Get Images' works.

Thanks again.

EDIT: I'm using 4.5.0.46

Thx a ton!!
I don't know why I checked this thread as I'm a 8310 user but this definitely seems to have worked for me (at least with my "test" message - after I told it to get images).

Just sending the service books without deleting got me html formatting but no images.
Tried this and still get no images

Well HBT, it looks like you and I are in the same boat.

The only thing I can think of at this point, is that we're missing a Service Book or something.

Does anyone know which specific service book(s) were updated with this upgrade?

I was able to get my HTML working by going into options>advanced options>TCP and adding wap.voicestream.com into my APN.
