Default BES and BIS service running on same device

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,
someone knows if it is possible for BES and BIS service to work together on same device ? (BES service supports corporate accounts where BIS service supports ISP accounts Yahoo,Gmail and so on )

I registered the same Nokia 9300 device on both services and now, even if i set up mail sending service BES (shown on device as "Blackberry") mails are sent through BIS service (shown on device as "Mobile Eamil")

Thanks in advance

Roberto

On actual Blackberry devices, this is no problem. I'll see if I can find anything out about Blackberry Connect.

I don't believe BIS is support for non RIM devices, but I am not 100% sure.

BIS does work with BB connect. Not sure if you can have both BIS and BES on a connect device though.

BIS doesn't work with BB connect on T-Mobile. It worked fine until T-Mobile upgraded their system late last year. BES is working fine.

Upgraded what system? BIS itself is operated by RIM, not T-Mo.

Kinda sorta. T-Mobile upgraded to the latest version of BIS recently. To my knowledge, they were the first to do so and rumor has it that some providers don't plan to upgrade to the latest BIS.

You can read about it here. http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=739065
Runs great on blackberry units. RIM will not even talk about issues with this new system and BB connect until they release it in US on T-Mobile.

Personally, I think that's a bad idea.

But I see. Basically, T-Mo is putting a service over the top of BIS. It's certainly their right, I presume, but I don't think it's in the best interest of the customer. Not in the long run. It hides the fact that T-Mo will have to go to RIM for some support issues. That kind of "hidden" relationship is fine if nothing breaks. But if/when it does, there's confusion all the way around.
