okay so one day my battery completed died and i tried charging it and nothing, basically a solid red light will show up for a lil bit once i plugged it in and then a battery with a red x will display on the screen. so i ordered a new battery and it came in and as soon as i inserted the new battery in the phone then the phone turned on, and was working properly and i began to fully charge it. then moments later it completely shut off and i was back at square one, the phone wouldnt turn back on and when i plugged it in a red light will show up and then a battery with a red x displays on the screen. Anyone have any idea????

No I did not. Like i said it was working just fine when i put in the new battery and i began to fully charge it and all of a sudden it just randomly turned off and refused to turn back on. Doesnt make much sense....
Ok , if you did not load any third party apps then it may just be a defective charger or cord. did you try the wall charger? did you try the data cable in a pc?
Yes I did. I have 2 wall chargers and a usb cable that i plugged in my pc and used em all and same result. It appears my phone isnt recognizing the battery although it turned on earlier today for a lil bit then shut right back off.
it sounds like the old battery may have been defective. the new battery should have only been a OEM original . Others generally do not work well. the worst case is the connector is defective. Did you buy a Blackberry OEM battery?
The OS does control the charge rate. Try to borrow a fully charged battery and make sure the BB is working ok. if it does then try the charger again and see if the charge indicator is on. if it is then it may still be a defective cable.
What your trying to do is isolate the cause, blackberry internal or external to BB. if you have problems with a borrowed battery then it may be OS related. You can try to do a reload of the OS. The FAQ section ( top of the forum) can give you info on how to reload the os. IF it seems to be the connector on the BB then repair may be in order.
Well I received a battery that was half way charged. I then put the battery in and the phone was working great and I began to charge it fully and I could see the charge indicator on. Then, I walked away from it and when I went to check on it, the phone was off and unable to turn back on.
Also, I tried using the loader under Apploader and tried restoring the OS 5.0 I believe it was. And I receieved an error message about the Application and it was unable to continue and it stopped at JVM?
So the battery was not fully discharged then seemed to just die. Check the connectors in the battery compartment. Maybe they need cleaning. Also if all else fails try the OS reload. Your last is to get it repaired.
the JVM error may have been from the lack of power but maybe not. Try to see if the PC will recognize the BB again and reload the OS
Right it had about half life. So it shouldnt of died like that especially when I was charging it and I could see it charging. I tried rubbing alcohol with a q-tip on the connectors and it didnt do anything.
Basically since my battery isnt bein recognized. My computer wont recognize my phone. So Im unable to perform any programs because it wont read anything
if you saw the charge indicator then it may be OS related. I would try to borrow a battery thats fully charged and go for a OS reload. Do not do it OTA . load the new OS on your PC and using Desktop Manager do the reload. Read the FAQ section on some tips.
Im sorry what does OTA mean? and I tried doing it on my pc but my desktop manager gives me an error message stating that the desktop software cannot communicate with the connected device because battery is completely dead (which its not) or I have to update it and when I try that I get an error message about JVM or it wont go passed that or something
Thanks very much. However, I dont see any other methods reloading OS. I just see the link that says "How do I upgrade OS on my blackberry?" In which I tried that but received an application error message.
