Wouldn't that be more of hybrid OS then a beta OS?

Default wondering if

I have storm with 4.7.148 installed. I have one of the storms that can not upgrade to 5.00.328 because when the screen dims on time it does not come back up. Seems to be a problem for how ever many storms I not sure. Its bberry unnerving and I have tried every which way to get it to work. Long and short of it is I was looking for a leaked 500.230 and found it. Its in rar for download. I have un_uzipped it but have no kind of exe. file or app loader. I am new to this but have put my BB back to original saved backup several times now. I have lots of reasons for wanting to see what happens with 230, but dont know how to install. I have read lots of install instructions, i.e back up, wipe, if need be vendors list delete, all that and am ok with it. I just dont understand what to do with all the unziped cod's and other files or how to install. Any help would be great..
Thanks..

Not entirely sure what you mean, but .358 for the 8330 definitely isn't a hybrid as it's made specifically by RIM for the 8330.

I am under the impression that 5.0.0.358 for the 8330 is a beta release, written by RIM, and is not yet available to the public. However, RIM's beta testers will have a copy.

The hybrid being discussed in that thread is 5.0.0.328.

Sorry, I was just interested in what makes people's claims reliable. Otherwise some random could come in and say "I just downloaded 5.1.0.976, it roxxors/etc."...

With that, I'd know they have no credibility.

Besides, most of the ones who do post updates here, other than my own updates, I have personal knowledge of their credibility and I don't doubt their veracity.

Default Is there ever gonna be an OS 5.0 for 8820?

I'm dying here guys. I bought this 8820 and I just want a little quicker os with possible threaded messaging. The 8300 series got a 5.0 upgrade, right? Aren't they the same processor? Thanks.

the problem is not cpu its memory. only the 8330 will get 5.0. the 8300, 8310 and 8320 have too little memory to support 5.0. i'm not positive but i think something similar is the case with the 88XX series.

Isn't a hybrid someone taking COD files from one OS and editing the ALX files for the added CODs?

At least that was my assumption, and if that is the case It can't really be called an OS, I mean yes RIM does write the COD files, but mixing and matching CODs is not something RIM it's something someone did with their free time.

Now please correct me if I am wrong about hybrids. (I've used plenty of betas but never a "hybrid" so I am unsure of the subject)

Plus until we actually see an actual leak, we can not really assume it's an OS RIM has but not the public.
