Hopefully the 8700g will be as reliable as its predecessor, and it will last for a few years (or until EDGE is surpassed). Enjoy!!

P.S - Has anyone encountered any problems using PocketMac with 8700? Thanks!

Where can I find a $199 8700g? I don't see any websites that offer for that quite low price. I currently own a 7230 BB and am eager to upgrade to 8700. $399 is a bit of pricy. I am opened to any suggestions on how to get the 8700 at low costs.

I'm not sure how everyone is getting these great deals. I'm paying 479.00 plus tax. But if its all everyone is saying, you won't hear me complain.

What I've read on these forums, people that will be first time T-Mobile customers are calling in and requesting a lower price. Then if they're not satisfied, they tell the rep that they will just go to cingular or some other company. The rep transfers them to an account specialist and they get that lower price. I myself have not done that, as I'm an existing T-Mo customer (and loving it!). Good luck to you .

wehre do u live? a simple few phone calls to stores outside ur market will help u lower the price...

u could check ebay also, not sure of thier prices...

my advice: call around and find a store that gives it to u for the price...if u are renewing ur contract or a new cust, they will easily take ur credit card number and mail u the phone....

Make sure you logon to "my T-Mobile" and change the phone yourself. That will speed up the process. Cheers.

To clarify most if not all the posters like me are T-mobile customers. I have been with them for about 5 years. I am out of contract on a month to month and said I would go with cingulair since the phone was free through them. I asked them to tell me what I need to do once I get my new phone to cancel my service with t-mobile then I got transferred to someone else who gave me the better deal. It is cheaper for them to keep as a customer than to have to get a new customer. Heck of a lot cheaper then getting a new customer through a reseller like amazon or venicom etc. Fact is I had not upgraded phone since I joined them and have been with them for a long time probably played a factor. Also they gave me 5-7 day shipping but it will be here in two days, so I would check the tracking number to be safe.

hey guys

i just ordered the 8700g... here is what i paid

$150 for the phone + free shipping + 200 anytime free minutes

all i did was call them, tell them i want to upgrade, she told me their standard pricing.. i said, thats to high since amazon, buy and cingular are giving it to to me for free... she moved me to an account specialist.. who gave me the above deal straight off the bat...

nothing complex.. absolutely straight forward.

i cant wait to get my hands on this baby.

kunal

Note: I have been a tmobile customer since 2002.

Great deal... 2-yr renewal, right?

Just curious (if you don't mind sharing obviously.. if you do, no problem) what kind of plan you were currently on (I'm trying to gauge approx. $/month that your total bill came out to).

I'm month-to-month with a non-BB phone (mo. bill about $45-50 pre-tax) and looking to upgrade but haven't had a chance to call yet.

I am not a 'new' T-Mo customer. I have been with them for years! I have 3 phones on my account. My monthly bill is well over $200 per month under the 3000 min family plan, BB plan and text message plans. I have not done a phone upgrade in over a year. I did get the BB 8700 for 179 + express ship + tax = $ 209.00

I am a long time customer who spends over $2500 per year with T-Mo so I guess if I got a good deal on a phone that just might be why.

I ordered mine today and got it for $199.99. Been with them for 5 years and I have 1..2..3..4..5..6..7..8 phone lines with them (I am able to open 10 max).

Anyway, the deal with mine was simple. I told them I am looking for the best deal that they can give me. I have lines that are not in contract and looking forward to upgrading all of them if I find what's best for my budget. I got the offer for $299 and I said, Nah! .. I'll check wirefly and other sites for new contract. Got told that they are basically selling refurbished phones and told them that is not true since I have a business relation with them (in a sense they are one of my partners in my business).. the next thing.. I got a better deal. I guess with my personal account with them (8 phones total), they want to make me happy...

I don't know, called 3 times and got nowhere. Am a sprint customer out of contract and went thru the Cingular, Amazon BS. When I asked for an account specialist or supervisor, they had no clue what I was talking about. What next?

PS: see some $449.00 price being posted but Tmobile is going @ $349.00 w/ $50.00 mail in. Don't get that

UShopWireless.com?

I ordered a T-Mobile 8700G today. Paid $250 for the phone, getting $100 rebate back. I got unlimited data for $19.99 and 1000 minutes for $39.99. Much better price than Cingular!!

Ordered mine yesterday over the phone. My contract was due to expire this Saturday. How's that for timing?

I got quoted $350 minus a $50 rebate. I said that was too much. Then I was quoted $250, and I said that was too much, and perhaps I should be transferred to a retention agent or account specialist. He said that he *was* an account specialist, and there was no one to escalate to. I politely persisted, said I "knew some folks" who were getting the phone for $179. Then he put me on hold for awhile and offered me $199, no rebate, $15 optional express shipping, 2 year renewal. I took the deal. I have a single line, been a customer for a few years, Sidekick -> Sidekick II -> 7100T -> 8700g. My monthly rate was $79.99. While he was at it, the agent reduced my monthly rate to $59.99 for the same 1500 minutes and unlimited data.

Hats off to kunal for getting the phone for $150. That's amazing.

My phone has been delivered to my home in Oregon, less than 24 hours after I placed the order. Too bad I'm in Atlanta till Friday night.

I did the upgrade thing. Was the extra $150 worth not have to switch numbers? Probably not.

Default Ideas for getting best deal from new T-Mobile activation / 8700G?

I am currently with Verizon but am interested in moving to T-Mobile for the 8700 and international capabilities.
I am an attorney who makes IT recommendations for my medium size firm (we do not currently have a PDA/blackberry solution but are considering same) and I may be branching out into additional law firm IT consulting.

Ideally, I would like the following - if anyone can offer me strategies or ideas in dealing with T-Mobile, I'd appreciate it.

New 8700G activation on a 1 or 2 year plan offering:
1000-1500 anytime / unlim. night & weekends / unlim. mobile-to-mobile
Blackberry email / web / IM capability (I see the base plans don't seem to offer this).

I would love to pay < $200 for the device, as I've heard others do here, and lower the monthly service from the approx $80 it seems to be down to $60 or so (which I've also seen on the boards).

Should I be dealing with a corporate rep on the phone, in a store, web? Only having dealt with Verizon in the past, I'd like to get a better sense of how T-Mobile operates for people in my situation (note, I am the owner of a functioning LLC so should qualify for a new business account of some sort).

Thanks for any suggestions. I'm looking forward to having this great new device.

I say call T-Mo or go to a store. They get paid to give customer service and as such may be better able to point you in the right direction. Maybe they could try and customize a plan for you. Besides I don't want you to come back and sue me if things dont work out.(joke)
