Default Facebook App Notifications

Please Login to Remove!

Is anyone else having problems with getting notifications on their Bold with the facebook app when someone posts on their wall or sends them a message? For some reason mines not working and I've been through all the settings on FB. I get the SMS notifications just fine. I've removed FB from my Bold and reinstalled it but same thing happens.

Yes. It started the other day. Takes quite a while for the notifications to reach the blackberry.

Mine hasn't worked since day 1 that I installed the app. Didn't work on my 8310 or my 8820 either.

im purely guessing here based on what i've noticed about the app, but it seems like it intercepts the email alerts you get on the device and then the app handles the notification. so you have to have the email account u get the fb alerts to set up on the bb. i have not had any problems with my alerts and my fb email account is setup on my bb using bis.

Hmm.. I haven't had any trouble like that on my 8320 or 9000. The only times my facebook notifications didn't show up is when my BIS email wasn't working.

I have my email account that I use on FB as my default email on my BB with BIS. I get email to that account all day long so I know that it works. Oh well, I'll wait and see what happens over time.

BAWAHAHAHA. They seem to be having a hard enough time keeping their own servers up right now, much less developing a new FB app.

I'd recommend signing up for the trial of socialscope (socialscope.net), it is much better than the RIM facebook application.

Had it, didn't like it with .237. It seemed to have a bad memory leak about 2 weeks ago.

Since you're done with it would you mind passing the beta account to me? I've been trying to get to use socialscope since it was announced. Never got an invitation mail.

They will be passing out more invites. I'm waiting to see what the next version does as far as a memory leak.

That is my guess as well. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The FB application for BB is pretty much useless. Not to bring up the iphone, but give that FB application a spin and tell me again why BB is SO MUCH better then the iphone.

Does the FB app still drain the battery? I tried it on my curve back in October or so and found that it drained my battery REALLY quickly. Uninstalled it and the battery was fine. I would love to have it, but am not willing to sacrifice that kind of battery life.

Indeed, same for me - disabling filters (=facebook mail arriving in the main inbox) was necessary as well for me.

I don't have any facebook blocking done on the BIS.

edit: it appears that my wife which uses the same gmail account as I do setup a filter in gmail to delete the emails as they came in so once I removed that, everything worked. I've since changed my email in facebook to another and will be testing it today.

The most common reason is that you have disabled FB alerts to go to your email account. When you re-enable it, then the FB app on the BB will pick it up.

This happened to me, but works fine now.

Also sometime you need to erase and re-load the facebook app. I had to do that after 2 upgrades with my curve. Keep in mind also the updates to your bb are based upon the email you are receiving the messages from. So like yahoo/bis address/gmail is recommended for the fastest updates. Also the iphone fb app sucks guys, the iphone geared mobile webpage is far nicer in my humble opinion. But they all are kinda lame. The myspace app seems far better put together(if I only actually used that systen!)
