Actually I think the iPhone acts as a signal jammer. It produces so much electromagnetic interference that any other device around it loses signal instantly.

Let's say it did work.

How often would it really help? A repeater needs a signal to repeat so it would only help if the iphone were in a decent reception area and the other phones were not. But how many places would be just too far from the cell signal but also close enough to the iphone?

I agree that if the iphone did work, the blackberry would probably not have an issue. I use Verizon. Would I want to rely on AT&T for my signal. I use a network extender as it is.
