Default Having BES capability on generic Email address

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I am sales representative in North America. I use Blackberry 8320 Curve with T-mobile and my email address is [email address].

I am independent rep so I cannot take email address with private domain name. It has to be generic like, yahoo, Gmail, msn, Bellsouth.....

I don't mind changing my email address to any generic address but I love to have BES capability on my phone. I don't mind paying extra but T-mobile does not offer that.

Can anyone suggest me solution where I can keep t-mobile as carrier and have BES benefits ( Complete synch with mail box) with generic email address.

I appreciate your help.

MailStreet offers a hosted BES solution, and there are others as well. I'm using BIS only, but folks swear by the hosted solution if you need that kind of functionality.

You do not need to have a generic email address. Go guy a domain name from any of the registrars (such as godaddy.com). That costs less than $10 a year. Then go to mailstreet.com or link2exchange.com and sign up for hosted exchange service. This runs about $10-12 per month plus you'll need BES service, which is another $10 per month.

You can use any of the free DNS services such as zoneedit.com to point domains MX records at mailstreet.com

All told, about $20 per month gets you BES capability on whatever domain name you choose. No need for using anything like yahoo or bellsouth.

So:

1) Go sign up for a domain (godaddy.com) -$8 per year
2) Sign up for DNS service (zoneedit.com) -free
3) Sign up for hosted exchange and BES (mailstreet.com) $20 per month
4) Tell Godaddy that your DNS servers are at zoneedit.com
5) Tell zoneedit.com that your MX records should point to Mailstreet.com
6) Enjoy Exchange and BES on your own domain name

I'm sure you could get an account on the hosting service's domain as well.

That is such a better idea. I like to make things complicated. I would just set the whole thing up through mailstreet.com or link2exchange.com. Takes most of the steps out of it.

I called my carrier, Telus, and in order to be able to do that, I'd have to switch to a BES plan which is WAY, WAY more expensive then a BIS plan..

They always get you in the end..

Funny that eh ?

Don't even need to do step 2 and 5, you can edit the MX records at GoDaddy's Domain Control Center now.
