Unhappy password change frequency

Please Login to Remove!

argh. i tried searching for password changes and frequency, but i wasn't able to find anything in the forums about this.

my blackberry, which is not attached to any IT policy, asks me to change my password waay to often. is there a way i can configure when the password expires? is there any way to have it never expire.

i understand the point of passwords, yadda yadda, so please avoid the "security" lecture.

thanks for everyone's help!

If your BB is not attached to any IT Policy, it should not be asking you to change your password. Options > Security > General Settings. What is listed under Services?

*** no services ***

i did have an IT policy, but i had to clear it via the method you can find on this website. i'm glad you confirmed that i no longer have to change it. any ideas? thanks for the quick reply.

Yep, for some reason the old IT policy is still effecting your security settings. I don't know why.

There are no other options. You might try the process again. That blank policy should wipe out the password requirement. I've tried it myself and it does work for that.

I've had the same issue. It seems to be dependant on what the previous policy contained.
I know a bunch of others have had the issue too, and it's always ones who've used the removal method.

It's the only method of removing IT policy out there short of connecting to another BES. I'm curious, though, if you were to do a 30 day trial of, say, Exchange My Mail, if you would get a new totally blank policy pushed out. Would everything be enabled again?

No idea. It's worth a try though. Changing it weekly is a pissoff

my bb passwd is expiring every 2-3 weeks and then I will have to get a new one. I doubt there is a way to disable it.

Not if you are on a BES and the BES IT policy requires it.

what would be the specific setting from the BES side that would control this behavior? i would like to be able to give specific instructions to my former admin to be able to restore normal functionality?

i'm wondering why all of the other IT policy controls were removed besides this one...

maybe these are questions for the BES forum...
