Lightbulb A few questions about unlocking a 8700g

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys,

I've just got a Blackberry 8700g off ebay to replace a previous phone which broke.

The trouble is, my contract is with Orange and the blackberry is locked to O2.

The first site on the internet for unlocking was:
Blackberry 8700g Unlock: 8700g Unlocking by UnlockItNow.com

but at $99 it's way too much, and also do these American unlocking sites even work on British phones? Is there any free way of unlocking it?

Any help from you would be great thanks

The only free way is from your carrier (or rather the carrier to which it is locked). But since you have no relationship with them, it is unlikely they will unlock for you.

Try gsmphonesource.com. Good reputation, and usually a lot less $$s.

hey, thanks a lot for the quick reply.

I found this page on there:
Remote Unlocking By IMEI for AT&T / Cingular Blackberry 5xxx, 6xxx, 7100, 7130c, 8100, 8300, 8700c, 8800, Curve, Pearl

but is doesn't say my model "8700g" also do you know if their method will work on my UK phone, im confused how they do it remotely

edit: also my carrier isnt listed on that page >_<

I know they can unlock the 8700g. I don't know anything about Orange.

I bet that if you email them that question, they will very likely answer.
