Can I please get the way to unlock 7100T
Please Login to Remove!
I have just changed service to Cingular and I am looking for the unlock code for the 7100T from Tmobile. I noticed several posts and people saying they have done it, but no unlock information.
Please, I would be much obliged for the help.

A little hope for new T-Mobile Users
Hey guys, yes its true T-Mobile will easily unlock your phone if your account is in good standing for more than 90 days. But personaly who wants to wait 90 Days!? Not me. So with in 72 hours of having my phone I have had it unlocked by T-mobile and heres the stipulation I used in this email:
Quote:
Dear XXXXXX,
Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile.
At this time, all phones sold by T-Mobile are locked for use by T-Mobile SIM cards only. To unlock your handset, you must meet the following criteria and these conditions:
-You must currently have an active account or an account that has been cancelled less than 90 days ago.
-You must have at least 90 days of continuous active monthly service.
-The account must not be delinquent or in Write Off with an outstanding balance.
-Only one SIM Unlock code per active line of service.
-The name on the request must be listed on the account as the billed party name, authorized user, or contact name.
The only exception to these requirements is if you paid full price for the handset, however, handsets not obtained directly from T-Mobile i.e. eBay, pawnshops, friends, family, etc. must meet all of the above outlined requirements to receive unlock code as a full purchase receipt will not override the requirements. Upon meeting these conditions, please provide us with the following and we can make a request for this code.
-Account holders name (required)
-T-Mobile phone number (required)
-IMEI number, press *#06# on handset to get the IMEI (required) -Account Password or last four of the account holder's social security number (required) -Customer's contact number or email address -Make and model of the phone -Carrier's name if the phone is from another carrier -A brief reason for the request
If you paid full price for the handset please provide us with the above information including a copy of your receipt. At this time, we ask that you send as a copy of the receipt via fax. Our fax number is 1-813-353-6550. Please ensure that your cover letter includes the following:
Attn. XXX
XXX XXXXXXXXX
C/O XXXXXX
Case XXXXXXXX
In addition, please include your name and mobile number/account number.
Once we have verified your receipt we will issue a request for your SIM unlock.
If you have any further comments, questions, or concerns feel free to contact us at anytime.
Thank you for choosing T-Mobile.
Sincerely,
Joe

Fellas,
those of you who switched from Tmobile to Cingular.....are you using the Outlook Exchange server (enterprise edition)? If so, any disruptions in your email service? I'll unlock my 7100T BB and switch it over to Cingular once this is confirmed. Other colleagues are using different BBs with their Cingular account so this shouldn't be any different.
Thanks.

Pretty good service from TMobile
I just received the unlock code and instructions from TMobile for my 7100t. Their directions were perfect, now I have an unlocked 7100t. No real reason for it, maybe I'll steal my housemate's Cingular SIM when I'm out of minutes.

How to SIM Unlock the device:
1. Go to the "Tools" screen
2. Select "Settings"
2. Select the "SIM Card" option
3. Type MEPPD
4. It should then display a list "SIM, Network, Network Subset, etc..."
5. To select "Network" type MEPP Alt-2
I go to this point and selected Network using the scroll. (the Network item showes as inactive). Any attempts to use the MEPP Alt-2 and so on did not bring up the box for the unlock key.
Now I bought this off ebay as unlocked but it came with an unlock code. How do I determine if its locked or unlocked? If it is locked then how do I get that damn pop up?
At another location on the forum someone mentione putting the SIM inside and doing it which was opposite to whats put here. Can some expert please clarify.
Regards.
6. It should then ask for the code
7. Enter the unlock code

Ok an update I just put in a Telefort (Europe - NL) prepaid card in and it did not say anything to the tune of SIM related issue. When I got into the SIM section it shows:
SIM Card: Security Disabled
ID 2939283928932893829832? (some long number with ? at the end).
Can someone verify if their unlocked phones would show the same with other SIMs?

Ok I have a 7100t.
I have received the unlock code from TMobile and and successfully UNLOCKED it.
I want to try it on the Cingular network to see how it works in my house, since the T-Mo signal gives me 1 bar at best.
Today at work I put in a Cingular SIM from a buddy of mine, and when the 7100t went looking for the network it said, "Insert SIM Card". It was in there good but I reseated it anyway and got the same thing.
Are there any other settings that need to be changed to prepare it for another network or is unlocking it all there is? Do some Cingular SIMS work and some don't?
Thanks!

So, I have this "Data connection refused" message under the date and time on top, on my 7100t. The unit is unlocked, I bought it off ebay, I inserted my sims card and it worked fine. My problem is I can't get email, or a browser, I also didn't receive a manual or anything. I have done much reserch on this and I can't figure it out, it would be a great deal to me if someone could help me with this.
Thank you

unlocked 7100t, rejected SIM
I also have a 7100t. I unlocked it using the code from T-Mobile. When I inserted the SIM card sent to me by Cingular, it showed "SIM card rejected".
I changed the internet browser option to http://device.home after reading a post on this thread.
What else do I need to do to use the new Cingular SIM card???
Also agree with posts I've read on this forum about class action lawsuits against cell phone companies for all these restrictions - think about how many posts would have been avoided!!!!
Thanks in advance...

I don't think you successfully unlocked it... If it shows SIM card rejected, you didn't unlock it.

However, as I mentioned in a post on HOFO according to my conversations with RIM, this will only allow the phone portion of the 7100t to be used on networks other than T-Mobile. According to RIM other networks such as ATT or Cingular are not setup to provide BB service to the 7100t. So in other words an unlocked 7100t will work fine as far as receiving/making calls but it will not operate on the network as far as getting mail pushed to it.
I have talked to RIM twice about this and each time they have confirmed this to be true. If anyone out there has been able to accomplish this setup I would love to hear about it.

Would you mind posting a link to the HOFO posting. Assuming it includes details, I'd like to read it. Otherwise, would anyone care to explain the technical reasons behind it?

Yikes. So it was. I hate it when old threads come back from the dead.
My bad... back to practicing writing "2006" on my checks.

I am having the same problem sabrinalenore is having in typing in "MPED" (this is from Cingular). I have seen "MPED" and "MEPPD" as part of the instructions. Which is correct? Does each time you try to type in this count as an attempt? Cingular says you get 5 attempts and that is all.
