Default Lotus Notes/BES issue

Please Login to Remove!

Hi!

We have a user with a 8800 BB, running on a BES with Domino.

Device Software:4.5.0.55
Notes Version: 7.0.2
BES: 4.1.6.15

He currently has a rule set up for any CC'd mails to be sent to his CC'd folder on Lotus Notes, this replicates fine with the Blackberry, HOWEVER: The mail stays in the inbox as well as moving to the Folder. The only way to remove this is to read the message, he doesn't want this to happen, it should automatically go to the folder on the BB....

We've checked all the redirection and sync settings, we've thought about upgrading the BB software, we've re-activated but this rule is still being a pain!

We found he had a duplicate State Database, this was removed and the issue is still there?!

HELP! Any Ideas?

I don't suppose you've got hide filed messages on the device set to no have you?

Messages>Options>General Options>Hide Filed Messages>

Set this to yes, and anything you have filed, will not show in the main messages folder.

I think Skyman is sort of right.

If you configure a non-inbox folder (such as "CCd mail") for redirection, the mail will deliver to the BB. It is delivered to the message folder, not technically the BB "inbox"

It will deliver with a FOLDER icon on it, and not an ENVELOPE. This is because the mail has not been delivered to inbox and then filed, it has been delivered to a subfolder via redirection.

Setting "hide filed mail" to YES will not "fix" your problem.

This is because mail redirected via folder redirection will APPEAR on the BB message list (not inbox though, as per above, check the icon). It will stay there until it is READ, even if you have hide filed messages set to YES. Why? I assume because BES thinks if it is important enough to redirect the folder, you want to see the mail come-what-may.

So, bottom line:

If you redirect a notes folder to BB, the mail will show up on the BB.
It is not technically in the BB inbox, it is in the subfolder (check the icon!)
If you have "hide filed messages"=NO, the msg will always be visible on BB
If you have "hide filed messages"=YES, the msg will be visible on BB UNTIL it is read.

Hope this helps

You're kinda out of luck. The only way to do as he wants is to let the mail originally deliver to the inbox, and use a rule to move it AFTER. That way the BB will see the mail, and then file it when the notes rule does.

However, if your user is using a pre-delivery agent/rule (i.e. acts on mail before notes takes action of depositing in inbox) the BB will never see those messages unless folder redirection is on for target folder. And as explained above, folder redirection mail will always show on BB until read.

What your user sees is by design. BlackBerry's Messages list IS NOT EQUAL to the Lotus Notes' Inbox.
