Default Bold in UK :- Bis Vs BES Tarrif ??

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

Now that the Bold is available in the UK, I have been looking to
purchaes one.

However, no reseller can tell me if I purchase one from O2 / Orange etc,
as a consumer, will I be able to activate it against my corporate BES ?

The only seem to have 1 tarrif :- Unlimited Data. (Which I think is BIS only)

Has anyone purchased a device from delears like carphone wharehouse
etc, and been able to activate it on a BES ???

Do I need to pruchase as a Business user ? The rates are so bad in those cases.

Thanks

I purchased a sim-free handset. It activates fine on BES provided your CARRIER allows it (o2 didn't use to and now they do).

You would need to buy it as a business customer. This is normally easier direct with the carrier. BES is a lot more expensive though at approx £30 a month on top of your standard voice tariff.

Exactly. On O2 and Orange there is nothing device wise that changes, it's all about the tariff. Vodafone on the other hand is the opposite - there is one tariff (APN) but the device PIN's are provisioned as either Enterprise or Prosumer at the NOC.

I have used Vodafone Prosumer and Enterprise 8310's on a BES ok, this should be the same for the Bold. The only difference that I have found is the Vodafone maps software not installed on Enterprise versions. of the 8310.

My Bold is BIS, my understanding is, i could activate it on my company's BES, but it would need a BES license for the server, and it use your bandwidth to pull in your works e-mail - but i think you can run them both on 1 device without issue.
