Default Change device via Desktop Manager

Please Login to Remove!

BES 4.1.5.26
BB Desktop Manager 6.1.0.35
User just upgraded from BB Curve 8330 to 9330.

This is typical of our experience with upgrading BBs. I connect the new BB to the user's computer, then go to Device -> Device Options -> Enterprise EMail, then pick the e-mail system (Outlook) and user's local Exchange mail profile. (Or, on some versions of BB Desktop Manager, simply respond in the affirmative when I connect the new BB and it asks if I want to switch devices). The system recognizes the new BB and asks if I want to change the user to the new BB, then takes me through moving the mouse around to generate the new encryption key; however, Enterprise Activation never completes, and the BES continues to show the old BB PIN.

I always eventually revert to just setting the activation password on the BES and having the user manually go through the Enterprise Activation on the BB. I have in several instances already been through the organizer configuration and a complete synchronization cycle before I do this, and then the Enterprise Activation seems to wipe out that configuration, and I have to do it again.

I just keep hoping that this will begin to work the next time someone gets a new BB, but I must be missing something regarding switching devices this way: via a physical USB connection of the new BB to the workstation running the BB Desktop Manager.

Default Re: Change device via Desktop Manager

Contact your administrator and request a new IT policy be sent to the BlackBerry smartphone that has Desktop Allow Device Switch set to Yes.

Smart?
