My apologies if this topic was covered previously. I did search but could not find what I am looking for.

I have a new laptop without a Com1 port, therefore my dock for my 6710 will not connect. I purchased a cable to convert the dock serial cable to USB. However, the driver that I loaded is not working. I did tell the desktop manager in connection setting to allow serial to usb conversion.
What else do I need to do to allow me to use my dock with my new laptop please?

No don't mess with that, just use whatever COM port the USB adaptor makes, like com 4/5/6/7 whatever.

Sorry to be so dense....but do you mean I should connect the serial to usb cable to my laptop and NOT use the downloaded driver and do NOT change the settings at desktop manager?
