Hello everyone,

I am completely new to BB- in fact I got it because my daughter went to college and left it to me.
It worked fine until I sent a (my assumption) a corrupted music file through the Desktop manager. Since then the weirdest things started to happened - BB works fine at night and dies in the morning, only alarm worked. Track pad is freezes, all the button are freezes. To stop the alarm i took the battery out. Connected to the PC again at night - works perfectly. Same story in the morning. I wiped out the memory card, nothing changed - worked fine while connected to the PC and after disconnected at night - dead in the morning. No lights, nothing. Desktop manager is not help either- it takes forever to connect, it is impossible to close.

Any idea what is going on? It is so ridiculous that drives me nuts, not mentioning that i lost all the data and still can not use BB.

First, your profile says BlackBerry 9300 but your carrier is listed as Sprint. Something isn't right there as the 9300 is a GSM model but Sprint is a CDMA carrier. The exact version matters for software updates.

It sounds like the battery is shot. When connected to your pc it's charging via the USB port.

Sprint stores will let you try a new battery before you buy. Most have extras lying around for this sort of thing. After sorting out your battery issue (if it is indeed a battery issue) you should wipe the BlackBerry with JL_Commander and re-install the handheld OS onto your device.

You can find the latest version of the OS for your model in a sticky at the top of the 9300 discussion. Choose wisely.

I am sorry - this is 9330 model. I would think this is a battery, but it worked fine until I used a Desktop manager and this music file. Also it worked perfectly after I disconnected BB from the computer. Battery is fully charged. By the morning it is dead.
do you still think it is a battery issue?

Could be. Sometimes batteries heat up when charging. If they get too hot they can deform slightly, enough at least so they don't make proper contact with the connector in the battery compartment. Sometimes a paper shim made from a single strip of a business card, placed on the side of the battery opposite the battery contacts, will fix it. The shim snugs the battery up against the contacts and holds it there a little more securely.

Another longshot to try is rebooting with the MicroSD card removed. On rare occasions a damaged or corrupted media card can cause strange behavior.

I also think a wipe/reload is in order. Just make sure your data is backed up first.

I just tried to take out the battery and put it back in a minute. BB turned on, loaded security software and went black again. Let me try this paper shim first. I am scared of these updates -I've never used these type of devices, and I am not technical at all. Is there a very detailed instruction for people like me, who are absolutely novices?
