Latest Bold OS install...
Please Login to Remove!
why every time I sync the OS tries to update the same darn files over and over?
It takes 20 mins each time and nothing is new or needs updating!
It keeps updating 4.6 CORE and some file named sonic media I think.
Any ideas?

yes
4.6.0.247
it checks for updated software each time I chose App Loader to add say themes or something - it goes thru the prompts to check for new updates and keeps updating the 4.6 CORE app.

There's a post somewhere (just read it a few days ago) saying that this is caused by the auto update feature and the person posted steps to disable it. I followed and no longer have the danish, norwegian, etc updates occurring. I'll see if I can find it. (of course the challenge is to search on a fix to auto "update" in a forum dedicated to all types of updates! lol)

Ah see, I remember that thread.
Once I had install the current OS on the PC, I could not find a Loader Cache folder.
I recently removed DM and reinstalled, and hadnt gotten around to loading the OS, and hey, the loader cache folder appeared. However, there is nothing inside it, no files for norweigen etc, so I cant remove it.
I just cancel the thing.

All you have to do is to go to your PC's control panel and remove the program (the Blackberry OS program, not device manager). It doesn't need to be there, and it will eliminate the message you get when you run DM.

But I havent installed the OS and it still tells me I need the languages and update core, thats the point.
Also, if you remove the OS, especially one that isnt by your carrier, you cant update the device.

I followed the directions from that thread and no longer get the danish, etc update. If I recall I had to uninstall and reinstall the DM. When I installed it I did it via a custom install and was able to uncheck auto updates. Worked like a charm.

Has anybody loaded 5.0.0.90 on their Bold. How do you like it compared to .247. Is it worth the upgrade or just stay with .247.

5.0 on the bold is snappier.
some users report a browser problem in which the only options for browsers are hotspot and media net (which is fixable)
A few apps dont work. Off the top of my head, Viigo, -Slacker doesn't work, Pandora does.
-Bloomberg doesn't work (you can still use their site though).
-Myspace and Facebook don't work.
-Apaitu doesn't work.
Free/available memory is about the same
Battery life is tbd.
Radio effiency is tbd, but reported as on par with the other 4.6 releases for the bold.

if mine keeps asking me to update the language files one more time, it's going to fly across the room. This thing is so quirky. The media sync update screwed it up so I can't sync now, and the stupid thing keeps trying to update itself and fails... how annoying...

Once you find a good roaming solution it's all good. I use BBM to talk to friends and family in France and the U.K and I never get charge anything from the U.S.
