Email only in Messages folder
Please Login to Remove!
Hi All,
New BB user with odd question. I have set up 3 email account on my device. I understand that the "messages" folder is a catch all but one of my email accounts only shows up in the "messages" folder and not in it's assigned inbox as well. Am I missing a default somewhere? The other two work fine.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forums.
Is the 3rd email account from a work account, and you're connected to your work BlackBerry server (i.e, BES)? If so, that BES account won't have it's own separate icon - it will only show in the Messages icon.

It is a work email but not using BES. I am using the blackberry Redirector with outlook. The funny thing is a couple of the emails make it into that inbox but most don't. Thoughts? Thanks.
Using 8310 btw.

I've never used Redirector, but I am betting it will do the same thing as a BES account.
I take it your company doesn't have a BES, or won't allow your personal device on it?

I don't think they have a BES but haven't talked with them yet. It is wierd though that a couple emails show up in that email account as well as the messages folder like it should but 99% are just showing up in the messages folder....

Still having email trouble. To recap....I have set up 3 emails on my new BB. MSN, Gmail, and a work email. The MSN and Gmail work fine. Email comes in and you get the message in both the "Messages" folder and the appropriate email folder. However, my work email only goes into the "messages" folder. Oddly enough 2 or 3 have actually gone into the work email folder. I have been working for hours on this and can't seem to find a fix. I would really like to hide the "messages" folder and just use the proper 3 email inboxes so I don't have to scroll thru all the emails.
This is a personal BB and my work doesn't have BES so they I am using BIS. I use outlook on my laptop and set up the email account in the BB.
What am I missing?
Thanks!!

I reinstalled the desktop software and set it up as BIS instead of using redirector. Deleted the email account on the BB and then added again. Still have the same issue. Email goes into the "messages" folder and not into the email account folder....
Any thoughts anyone??? Searching endlessly and can't resolve issue.
Thanks.

How did you delete it on the BB? Did you delete the service books?

Well I tried changing Themes and then changing back and that seems to have solved part of the problem. Email is now going into both the messages folder and the proper email inbox. However, When a new mail shows up I get a red star notifier over the messages folder but not over the email inbox.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Definitely sounds like a themes-related issue. What theme are you using?
On another note, you might not want to do it this way, but with my work email and several personal accounts all coming into my BlackBerry, I decided I didn't want the hassle of having multiple account icons to check my email. I've hidden all the individual mailbox icons, and only use "messages." I've gone into my BIS account on the web, and set all email coming through my work account as "Level 1" which means it shows up in RED in the inbox, vs. black for everything else. I've also set a different audio notifier for Level 1 messages. Makes it very easy to keep track of the important work email, without the hassle of having multiple inboxes to open and go through.

Thanks Dallas, that's an interesting idea. I kind of like just going to the email icon and only seeing that email but if I could go to messages and have them a different color then that would be kind of cool.
Question: Do I have to log into my BIS on the web to change certain email to level 1? The phone was set up by ATT so I haven't had to go online and login to an account to set up email or anything. From all my searching I think I know how but is it neccessary?
Thanks!
