Default Cheap BES?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello, I just joined the boards a few days ago. However I did have to reregister since the hax...

I am new to BB and Wanted to install a BES in my office.
Currently we will only have 2 users but expect 10 in the future.

Where is the cheapest place to buy the software? and What is the diff between 3.6 and 4.0.

The boards used to have a topic with some links but they are gone now

Thanks

Define 'cheap'...

http://www.blackberry.net/purchasing...g/us/bes.shtml

Pricing information is available here.

I define cheap as .. cheaper than retail.

Also if I get the 3.6 BES (because it is cheaper) can I still put 4.0 on the BB?
Thanks

4.0 should be about $1,000 LESS than 3.6 (well, it was cheaper than 2.2 for Lotus). There really are not any places to really get it cheaper than retail because resellers are not marking it up and don't have much room to play with to reduce the price.

There used to be a Small Business license (max of 15 users) that would end up being a little cheaper. It's at the bottom of the link posted above.

The quote I got from our tmobile rep showed base prices for both the same. Then extra for the amount of CAL's you get (GSA discounts though)

"BES" and "cheap" do not go in the same sentence, unless "cheap" is immediately preceded by "not"

CDW is the best price I can find.
and 3.6 is almost half the price as 4.0
is 4.0 worth the price diff.?
Thanks

In my opinion it can be if you truly have mobile users. If someone spends more time out of their office than in, the new features can definately warrant the price difference.

Also, if you want to get TSupport, it now is much cheaper for smaller deployments. If you buy 4.0, you get Tx0 which is 6 months support only on the server, on an 8x5 hour schedule. Purchasing level 1 for $689 a year would get you all software upgrades and 10 handheld, 1 sever support for the year on a 12x5 schedule. Last year this same level of service would have cost $1500. $875 gets you the same level of support, but 24x7 (used to be a flat $3500 I believe.) The new pricing was great for my company. I only wish I could get level 3 if only for the priority queuing, but I can't justify the $10,000 program fee that kicks in.
