BES 4 cant be put in DMZ. Install the BB router service on that box and then the rest on a box inside the network.

Default BES 4.0

You can have them all on one box. Greywolfe's suggestion was that if you want to put something BB on DMZ then you could put the router service but not other services. BES works fine on one box inside the network - that's how mine is set up.

i would say to go to RIM's knowledgebase and look up the white papers. they are pretty in-depth about the installation and various configurations for BES 4.0. they do not go into much detail about the administration and whatnot, however.

Thanks for the reply.
So the conclusion is: I CAN put the whole BES in DMZ on the same box with OWA, just need install Router service on the same machine, right?
Sorry, i am pretty new to BES4.0.

Seriously - everyone here is telling you not to do that. It is not what RIM recommends.

If you want to try it, then fine. But I would listen to people here. Do not put the BES in the DMZ.

Thanks for your suggestion, it is really not me, it is my boss wants it.
Could you please tell me the major reasons for not doing this? so I can response him properly. I did mention security is a concern but he said DMZ is pretty safe, oh well...

My network guy put the BES (still 3.6 but plans for 4.0) inside, and opened a port. Are you saying that is also not recommended?
