I have a group of friends all around the world, about 25 of us in total, that have a BBM chat group set up that we interact with all day and night on. However, as time goes on, people are migrating away from BB and I'm wondering if there are any good cross-platform chat apps similar to what a BBM chat room offers.

We've looked at Cnectd and whatapp so far and don't love them.
Any others you know of or recommend?

I prefer WhatsApp. Kik was also pretty good until RIM stomped them into oblivion.

I agree with Penguin. I prefer WhatsApp as well.

I use WhatsApp on my iPhone, but it doesn't do group chat.

On that blog from Feb 22, they announced a group chat functionality (limited to 5 people) in version 2.6.2. I'm playing around with the app now but for the life of me can't figure out how to do a group chat.

OK! This took ages to work out LOL

Sign in to app on iPhone
Go to "Chats" tab
Touch a white part of screen (under the Search bar) and pull down
2 buttons now show - Broadcast Message and Group Chat
Tap Group Chat
Enter subject and up to FIVE participants

So not perfect, but better than was
