Default strange

I just spoke with Rogers Customer Service who had never heard of it. She checked and confirmed that it launched today but that they have not received any units from RIM and there is no expected timeline for this. Furthermore she stated that there is no pricing information available as of yet and nothing is even showing on their system for this phone. Weird...

the bulletin should be sent out to all reps and sales reps this week, near the end of the week. so i'm not shocked that she didn't know... i give it till Friday before everyone knows at rogers... i have called a few times about issues with service on my 8820 and every single rep i have talked to was talking about the 8900 with me... and those were regular BB tech support reps

I called up rogers for an upgrade and they are saying there is none of the 8900s in stock. I went to a Rogers Plus store and saw a bunch of promotional stuff in the garbage, so I asked the associate about it and he showed me the demo phone! It was alright, it felt just as heavy as the 8800 (maybe a little more) and had a sleek back casing and a nice tilt on the top. If I can get this phone as an upgrade for under $200 I will pick it up. They keyboard reminded me a lot more like my current curve 8310 with a new look to it. I've already got a bold so this phone is my secondary phone for work, and I don't really want to spend to much on it cuz the sale of my old curve will pay for the work replacement phone.

I'll give them another call back sometime later this week, hopefully I will have more luck then.

Just called Rogers and ordered it. Will arrive by UPS in 3-5 days. So now's the time to call if you want this phone.

Note... the CSR said they do not have it and call back next Tuesday. I asked to look for it in the ordering system and he did. Sure enough, there it was listed as "8900 black".

Default Delay of launch

I just spoke with Rogers and yes they do have it in their system for customers to order. I had someone check the warehouse and she confirmed that, even though it is in their system, they have delayed the launch on the device due to OS problems, similar to that of the Bold. They are now hoping for sometime in January but cannot guarantee that.

It was an upgrade.

This is actually a work phone, so I'm sure if that makes any difference but it was:
$204.99 + $50 upgrade fee. The upgrade fee was waived. Not sure how much it is to buy the phone out-right... my guess is around $450-500(max).

I hear some people are getting it for $179.99 too. Guess it depends on your current plan/phone/HUP etc.

Ahh, I just ended up getting another bold (for my work phone). I figure the bold is worth more anyways, and come due time I might just be able to "exchange" it with a storm (if I wanted one in the future). That and nobody really knows when they are getting the new Curves in stock!

First rep I spoke with said 649.99 w/o contracts. $179.99 was the 3 year renewal rate, after a $50 MIR.

Default Bold/Jav on Verizon

Could you explain how you went about that? I had a Curve and "upgraded" to the Storm but I don't like it, I'm planning on going back to my Curve but was wondering if there was a way I could get a Bold or Jav and unlock it on Verizon's network (I refuse to use any other carrier, and found out thats not possible with the Bold, so that leaves me with the Jav)....I tried to email/PM you but I couldnt. I'd REALLY appreciate it if you could get back to me on this. Thanks.

Got my 8900 on Tuesday from Rogers.I wanted this curve for UMA(Talkspot) because 8320 was out of stock and I hate the pearl. I found out however that the Pearl works way better on UMA. It never loses the connection to the UMA servers. UMA stays on forever. On the 8900, it's very unpredictable! I tried with different routers like the linksys wrt54G-RG, Linksys WRT350N and DLINK DIR-825. The 8900 has connection issues to UMA on all 3. The pearl is PERFECT! If anyone experiences any of these symtomss, please let me know.

I was so shocked that the Javelin was released on the Rogers network...I guess i'll pay the price for not coming on here....I like the device but the rep told me to wait for the Magnum. Rogers is bringing it in January. I have to do some research on this.

How is the the Javelin?
