Default found blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

i recently found a blackberry while at a concert... it had been trampled on by tons of people and when i picked it up there was an hourglass... my boyfriend told me that meant it was going back to its "factory settings"?? (probably from being trampled on i assume) ... i am able to turn on the phone now and i found the phone's old number, but when i try to call it i get an automated phone service saying the phone has been deactivated. how am i able to get ahold of the owner?

Welcome to the forums.

Kudos to you for trying to return the device to its rightful owner! Is there any data on the device at all. An Owner Info Screen? Options > Owner Info? Is there any addresses in the address book? I.C.E numbers (In Case of Emergency), lots of times these are very close contacts. Maybe a number labeled mom or sister or something? I would try contacting them, if at all possible.

If all else fails, you may be able to contact the carrier and report that you've found this device and they may be able to get in touch with the owner.

that was my first instinct as well, but unfortunately there is nothing. the phones address book is empty and everything is blank, no documents, no names, etc...
i will just try to get ahold of an at&t that is in the area of the area code that coincides with the cell number.. thanks!

its possible that someone else found it first, it had a password, entered wrong password, thought "f**k it" and then went ahead and wiped it and then left it.

I have... in addition to ICE on my lock screen... placed a label on the inside of my battery cover with pertinent 'if found' information. In this way, even if the battery dies/someone wipes it, I may still have a chance at getting it back. IF... that is.. good folks like arnenn06 find it and try to return it.

Being that the number was 'disconnected' the owner probably is not now interested in getting it back. He probably had that BB reported as lost/stolen and the carriers will lock the device ID to prevent it from being used again.

It's probably a brick by now.

Wrong. The only thing that is (probably) bricked is the SIM card. The owner would still probably like to get his BlackBerry back.

Man, I love a happy ending... it's so refreshing to read about someone actually trying to be decent out there... instead of the last guy who "found" a BlackBerry and came here. He was concerned that he'd eventually get busted for giving it to his girlfriend as a birthday present. That was just wrong on so many levels.

Again, arnenn06, good on ya, and congrats on being successful in your quest.
