Unhappy MDS and application push difficulties

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all. I've been struggling with this for awhile and I can't find anything relevant on the forums, so here goes:

I am running a BES for GroupWise version 4.1.4.16 on W2k3 server. In the BB Manager, I see the server as I named it, i.e. 'SERVERNAME'
For MDS, I see -https://SERVERNAME.:7443/mds- (note the period after SERVERNAME). I noticed this after my first installation. I have subsequently reinstalled from scratch (for other reasons), and there it is again. Is this normal? Can this be changed? Should it be changed? I have a sneaky suspicion that this is getting in the way of MDS seeing the applications that I am trying to (so far unsuccessfully) push.

At this point I am only trying to push the MDS Runtime. I have shared the correct directory, created and applied the software policy, deployed to a test user, but nothing is happening. I do not see any info under any of the MDS (although I just noticed the test user under Devices Registered). Ultimately, I am trying to install Groupwise Messenger clients on our handhelds.

Thanks in advance for any help or clarifications.

There likely is a way to fix your MDS-IS problems, but that is for a different type of application I think.

Take a look at this example for pushing Google Maps:

Default Just a dumb question

You said you created test user ..Is the device associated with this user under Managed State ? In Blackberry Manager you would see the status as "Running" or is it just "Initializing" ?

Only Device under "Running" state can be managed by Blackberry Manager.

One more question why is MDS anyway involved where, you can deploy the MDS runtime just with Blackberry "Software Configuration" feature.

Thanks,
