Default Anyone switch over from a 7100t to 8100 yet?

Please Login to Remove!

What’s involved to switch all the settings and contacts from my current 7100t? Is it as simple as using the “switch devices” on the new desktop manager? Or would that be too easy? BTW, I do use my AOL and work “enterprise server” email.

Thanks!

Yes, I had a 7100t. I just purchased the 8100 and it is as simple as clicking on the switch device icon on the BB Desktop Manager.

Different Batteries. They may work, but you also may do some damage.

Will the "switch device" feature on the desktop manager also transfer the extar aps that I downloaded on my 7100t to a Pearl, or will I still need to do the backup and restore thing to get these transferred?

No the new 8100 will only use yellow label batteries with encryption.

Did your browser disappear? Mine did and I'm freaking out. The settings disappeared too.

Anyone had and/or fixed this problem?

I just used the Switch Device Wizard to switch my 7100T to my 8100. It did not load all of my apps (e.g. Blackberry Today). Also I lost my browser.

Help!

Log into your BIS account and resend service books for the Internet browser, and disconnect/reconnect the handheld to the DTM connected to your Exchange/domino server to get the BB Browser back.

For GW, you need to do an EA.

That worked, thanks. What are GW and EA?

I did the "Switch Devices" with Blackberry Desktop 4.2 from my 7105t to the 8100 and BBToday, BBSports, Berry411, and BBWeather all failed to make the transfer. I re-downloaded Berry411 and reprogrammed in my home and work addresses. Works like a charm (no pun intended). Google Maps is gone as well but I may just let that one slide since I now have Blackberry Maps.

I didn't do the transfer (can't say that I would have trusted it), but I'm trying to reinstall my apps and BBWeather installs, but I can't seem to get a profile created. Anybody else having issues?

I chose the new Pearl because I really wanted the expandable storage. I love having a camera but it's not a killer feature for me. Likewise the music - I have several iPods for that, and with Apple's announcement today I'm going to have a few more, I'm sure. I love the tiny size of the Pearl. The tradeoff is screen size. The Pearl's screen is 240 X 260 while the 8700 is 320 X 240. Makes a difference when you're looking at a long email or a web page.

Do have a look at what Boy Genius has said about the 8100 Pearl. He was raving about it initially and cooled off slightly after using it for a week or so. http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...00-review.html I think this review convinced a few folks to hold out and await a qwerty version. Not me though. I'm always an early adopter and impulse buyer. Sometimes it hurts, sometimes it's sheer bliss. Right now I'm lovin' the Pearl!
