Default Blackberry Controller Service

Please Login to Remove!

I have all of my services for my Blackberry Enterprise server using the BESAdmin account I created except the Blackberry Controller Service. If I change this service to anything but administrator I can not send and receive emails on the blackberries. I have gone through the permission/setup sheet that I have multiple times and can not figure out why this is. Does anyone have any tips or links that could point me in the correct direction. The BES is running on a Domain controler, and has exchange 2003 system manager only installed.

Thanks,
Tim

Was the BlackBerry Enterprise Server installed with the BESAdmin account? If it was not then you might be missing registry information in the following location under the BESAdmin account:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Research In Motion

Another test you can do is login to a workstation as the BESAdmin account and make a MAPI profile for a differnet user. Then open up Outlook for a differnet user and see if you can send email and make folders? If you can then your permissions should be fine.

If you permissions are fine then i would try to delete the MAPI profiles on the BES and re-create them from the BlackBerry Confguruation utility.

Delete the profiles from this location in the regitry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles

If you cant then you will need to fix your permissions. Check the install guide and try again.

The controller service will be set to run under the BESadmin service account if installed under BESadmin, hence this is why you are running into issues.
Uninstall and logoff, log back in as besadmin and install again.

What are you suggesting I uninstall? And why does it matter what account I log into the machine as? I just set the service to run as whatever account I choose.

MAPI stored data in the Current User portion of the registry so you should always logon and manage the BES with your BlackBerry Service Account.

Off the top of my head I don't know why it would matter for the controller, but certainly the Dispatcher will see some probems.
