Default DST Device Screenshots

Please Login to Remove!

I've been asked to help put together some documentation for our 1500+ end users that will be receiving this patch. In the doco, I need to put in some device screenshots of how their device will look when the patch is received. I've done a fair bit of searching both here and google but am unable to find anything like this. If anyone can help me simulate a DST update push to a device simulator so I can capture screenshots I would appreciate it. I have several software versions of simulators so can I might be able to do it here or if anyone can just provide it I'd be forever in your debt!

Is a screen shot really necessary? I have the message that appears when prompted to reboot the handheld. There is no other visual cue other then this. (unless you go into the options menu/2007 DST patch)

That's just it, we have never rolled out anything OTA in our organization so am unsure how it will look. So will the users not get any type of confirmation message or anything of the sort on their device?

Info with Patchmanager 2.2...

I just rolled out the DST patch to about 30 BB's with my BES 4.0SP6 Server.

The users will see a dialog box pop up on their BB's saying "The time zone information has been updated" Do you want to reset YES, NO
1 of 4

I guess the message will come back up on their screen 3 more times and give them the option to hit yes or no.

This is kinda crap because half my users hit NO. This patch should FORCE the reset. Never leave it up to your users to do something even if you yell at them and tell them how important this is.

Patchmanager 2.3 apparently WILL force the reset after 4 warning messages.

Another thing I saw is I got a ton of these errors

Error,0x87,0x83,200

Which means it can't find a transport or something and it download the patch.
Well...I don't have a Proxy server so this shouldn't have been an issue.

I don't know why the BB's wouldnt download the patch.

I went to the BB's manually and went into Setting, Options, DST Patch and said Dowload now and in a few seconds it downloaded the patch.

Seems like downloading automatically is troublesome.

Anyways...good thing I only have 30 BB's. I am telling my users to bring them in so I can just rerun the download and then reset it for them.

Then I know its done.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the link lwong - the problem is that I need to be able to provide a screenshot to managment prior to the push. I'm not going to be able to test this by Monday when they want the communication sent to the 1500+ users. I'll likely just let them know that it's a simple "pop-up" box with the text that Pking provided above unless someone has the ability to push the update and screenshot it.
Thanks all!

Do a search on this site for BBScreen. That's what I use to get screen shots to send to my users. Incredibly easy to use.

We will be performing some testing sometime next week but we are wanting to get the communication sent out prior so everyone is prepared when it does happen. DST really kicked into high gear on all fronts (thanks MS and RIM!) over the last 2 weeks and really has everyone a bit frazzled...

Why don't you just manually load it onto one BlackBerry and then take the screenshots from it?

Take your pick!
Enjoy!

BTW - Some of the pics were provided by RacerGregg in a separate thread. Others are my own creation with BBScreen v1.1.

you CAN make them install it. while configuring the software configuration, you can create an application policy that forces the handheld to install.

I am having trouble using the dang query tool. How long did it take for your handhelds to recieve the push? I just pushed it to two handhelds for a test, and nothing has happened yet?

You have to remember to click Update Configuration Check Status and then wait up to 4 hours.

When I tested the BES Push to installed the patchmanager to just one BlackBerry, it took about 1 hour to install that and download the patch.

I only have about 30 BB's on my BES so I figured it wouldn't take too long.

I bet it took about 12+ hours or so to get the patchmanager installed on 30 blackberry's.

Now i'm just running around to every BB and manually re-downloading the TZ patch and resetting the devices.

Good thing I only have 30 to do
