IM+ worth it? tell me more!
Please Login to Remove!
Hey guys,
I need to get an IM app for my 8800. I mainly use AIM, but i want to use yahoo and gmail as well. Is IM + worth the 50 bucks? If not, whats the best free app out there that can support all 3 clients?
btw, another feature i need is to be able to be logged in on my phone and at a computer at the same time, if that makes any difference.
thanks in advance!~

IM+ has always worked well for me and others. Their Customer Service is very good. They have also let me swap my License back and forth as I move from BB to e61 and back.
Quality software and quality people. Some people balk at the price, but hey, you get what you pay for. And it's only a one time fee vs yearly subscriptions.
Luck.

I purchased Yak-on mostly for the price but have come to like quite a bit over time. However, I have come to find out that with my 7250 the processor is too slow to run several IM sessions (regardless of clients or number of) with-out effecting overall performance or battery drain and now keep the better written Yahoo and Google clients running full time and only open paid services as needed. Newer BB's may have faster chip sets but I can't compare but I will say that they all have trial periods and recommend testing them thoroughly.

I have IM+ and before JT was released, it was the best non monthly fee IM program for the BB that supports all the providers if you ask me. It worked well but had some disconnects and did not always reconnect reliably.
I am in the JiveTalk Beta and it is closing the gap on IM+ in features quickly. JT is also more reliable and stays connected and reconnects better than any other IM program I have tried. Its still not perfect but I dont think any cell phone IM program can be as its reliability depends on your carrier, what area your in, etc....
Now I am just waiting to see what the cost is going to be for JT, if any. As long as there is no monthly fee, I will stick with it, else I will go back to IM+.

I've had IM+ for a couple years now - on my Blackberry 7250 w/Verizon, and now with my T-Mobile Pearl - and I like it a lot. It's a pretty reliable program, and while it occassionally messes up, I still like it.
That being said, JiveTalk is free, and basically works just as well (I DLd it for the hell of it, even though I already have IM+). The only difference is that the IM+ on the Pearl lets you send files in instant messages. I keep them both and use them interchangably, but JiveTalk is a great free program. That web site someone posted above no longer hosts the app though, not sure how responsive their e-mail is

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)
I would certainly say that jivetalk is a great app. I've played with a few of the different programs, and I'd say jivetalk is getting better with every update.

JiveTalk is real good, and they're not even done designing it! I was paying for WebMessenger, which I found to be the best after trying all the others. If JiveTalk ends up with the features WebMessenger has, I'll go with that, because it stays connected better than the others, and in a few other ways is superior. YakOn was nice, but it ran my battery down in a few hours.

I just got my JiveTalk info e-mailed to me a couple of days ago. Took about a day after I sent them a PM on here.
This is the thread for JiveTalk. Just send them a PM, they tend to respond quicker that way.

JiveTalk is a good work for start up, but it is still very far from real IM players like IM+ and others. They are free and it is their only benefit for now.

Please what a load of noncense. I really doubt you have even tried JT judging from your comments and if you had you would see it supasses BY FAR IM+ in reliability, staying connected and reconnected and I mean BY FAR...
I paid $50 for IM+, have used the $5 a month WebMessenger, Ramble, OZ, RIM IM's YakOn, etc.... and JT even in Beta does as much or more than many of them plus stays connected 100 times better.
In fact I have ran IM+ with JT at the same time with AIM when I first started trying JT and JT is by far superior in staying connected and reconnecting.

I wonder if it is a good business practice for a representative from Shape Services to have alias user accounts to glorify their own product while also bashing a competitive product?
Therexxx8217;s no need for that. Each application will speak for itself.

part of the reason im+ is so much is due to their marketing... from what iv'e heard they run television ads in europe... none of their competitors spend nearly the same on marketing as them... I've never tried the jive-talk client, but it seems to be in really early beta stages considering the website isn't up, and you have to email them directly to get a beta. Used the WebMessenger client... like that it lets u pick the length of your subscription(though the annual rate is like half the price of the monthly rate)...so for now i would suggest webmessenger... is there anyone who can point me to an actual site for jive-talk, or something that explains the features/requirements etc... It seems like jive-talk is the one spamming their product, not im+, I find it hard to believe that many people are using a product that has so little info out on it(or maybe I just suck at finding their website,is it beejive.com or am I wrong) If those posts are not spam, but real users, I would like to see what the hype is all about(or is it just free)
