Default In a jam, I need a BOLD LCD ASAP

Please Login to Remove!

Long story short is I messed up my LCD. Too lazy to take my Bold out of the holster before buckling my seat belt and the pressure pooched the screen.

Been on the hunt of a new replacement Bold but then got the idea that maybe I should just try to replace the LCD first.

Where is the best place to get one in North America?

cnn.cn is on back order

and

sw-box.com is based out of China.

Also for those in the know....How important is choosing the right 001/004, 002/004 and 003/004 LCD version? (as listed on sw-box)

Thanks in advance

you need the same model LCD as the one you have.
Its stamped on the back of the LCD.

If you get a different model, it wont work.

try horizonwireless.

Horizon rocks, but you can also order one from a US Seller on eBay. You should get it quick for around $40-50 USD.

I am also in contact with seller on eBay.

He claims that it is the LCD only. Do you know how difficult it is to remove the old LCD from the lens and transplant the new one onto it?

Also do replacement LCDs generally come with the adhesive to attach it to the lens and main board?

Lens removal is tricky. you can break the screen by removing it.
I would say forget it.

There is not a lens on the bold. It is integrated with the LCD. LCD should come equipped with one.

I went off the information he provided. Said that the lens was not included although the picture on the auction clearly showed one. So I opted to buy it elsewhere since I was unsure and so was he. And unless I misunderstood, he couldn't even confirm that the pic was of the actual item.

Oh well the least I can do now is be guinea pig for the rest of BBF regarding that/store source

There is indeed a lens on the Bold LCD. It is the plastic layer that is glued to the front face of the LCD. As Midnightdraven said, it is very tricky to remove an old one or even to apply a new one. Your decision to order the complete assembly is the best option.

Thanks Sparks, that's reassuring to know.

I also ordered a speaker grille/LED cover just in case.

SUCCESS!!!!

The new LCD came in today and just got it installed. It came complete with the lens and speaker grille/LED cover so I guess I got a spare now. For what who knows.....

Just a little tip for anyone who's doing the LCD swap.... install the LCD into the bezel FIRST. DO NOT attach it to the mainboard. It makes install much more difficult.

Also if anyone is interested in changing their bezel..

I bought a black one from sw-box and one from cnn (don't ask).....

The sw-box bezel comes WITH buttons and the cnn one doesn't.

Silly me didn't even look at the sw-box bezel first...would have made my life easier. Oh well, I'm just glad my Bold is back up and running.
