Default Stop e-mail function on the weekends

Please Login to Remove!

Hello i have just got my BB up and running and have been loving it till this weekend! when i leave the office at 5pm on friday the e-mails still keep coming thru so i either keep getting hassled by all the beeping or even worse i get suckered into replying to them, thus i am not enjoying my days off,LOL

So now a stupid question is there a way to turn off the e-mail function on the weekends and still continue to use the phone and sms functions?

Yes. You can go to Options, Network. Click to the menu for Network Services to OFF. You can use the phone, no data. No browser, no internet.

Or you can also go to your BIS website setup and in FILTERS, forward none. Just make sure you turn it back on when you want your mail...

You could also change the profile to "phone only". You will still get the emails piling up but it won't ring, beep, vibrate or whatever for the emails, just the phone.

Good suggestion, PhillyGuy, but I have a feeling he's one of those (like me) who can't keep from looking. If it isn't there, nothing to look at.

I hear you. I always look. Before I had the BB, I had to log onto my OWA server, now it's on the BB. Kind of ticks the spouse off when we go out to dinner, though.

lol, I am way bad at that. I solved part of the "spousal-disapproval-of-BB-problem" by getting her one. But she just has more restraint than I do (and doesn't get 1/10 the emails I do).

Mine problem will be solved when I finally dump my PDA (Dell Axim) and go exclusively w/ the Pearl. Although Wife and Daughter will fight over the PDA. Just need a couple Apps that aren't out yet for the BB (Quicken and a good HP Scientific Calc emulator).

Phillyguy:

Take a look at this link and get the developer to send you link to download his calculator.

Hope this helps.

Default Surely this can be done on BES?

Am new to the BB world. We have 10 users up and running on SME version talking to MS Exch 2003, works perfectly. Surely this setting for restricting email to the BB after hours and weekends in the way of a schedule is a setting that you can set on a per account basis? Seems like such an obvious requirement...

Jim, the above posts were in regards to BIS setup. Maybe you can restrict your BES units on a schedule...

My email browsing is a manual process.

I may or may not look at emails after hours. I don't respond to any emails at all after hours.

Much easier than a systematic solution.

Email Options --> Email Settings --> Send Email to Handheld: select NO.

This way you can still use the rest of you data services, but will not receive email.

Oh, BIS... I am on BES. Then maybe the option does not exist for all BB users.

With all due respect, because I am certain that you have helped many people on this forum, but the question was not specific to BIS. No need to request that I read the whole thread; it has been read, and hopefully someone looking for this answer on BES finds this thread useful.

But thanks for pointing out that BIS is different.
