Between the 20 second delay and the typing in of the scribbly letters and numbers, I am finding searching to be too cumbersome to use.

I am alwasy narrowing searches based on the previous search, but with the 20 second delay I've forgoten what I'm searching for and gone on to others tasks by the time the 20 seconds are up.

And the scribbly letters and numbers (does this bot busting system have a name so I can stop calling it "typing in of the scribbly letters and numbers"?) is unbearable. I can't distinguish 5's from S's or 9's from g's and so on, and I generally have to redo it 3 to 4 times before I get one right.

There must be better ways.

I find searching on my BlackBerry's quite nice. Very fast, accurate and a real time saver. It's one of my favorite features.

Yes, but the BBForum policies and what my Mama taught me as a child forbid me from making that suggestion.

Have fun!

I've never been a fan of Invision. phpBB2 all the way! Anyone remember the "original" bb forums?

BTW, this isn't run on Invision BB. It's vBulletin. I haven't had much time to play with phpBB 3.x, but I hear it's great. With that said, concerning internal development and product offering, from an administrative standpoint, you can't beat vBulletin. phpBB's saving grace is the free themes that are generated by it's massive installation base. Assuming they have made phpBB 3.0 a heck of a lot easier to hack and theme, then it may be a viable option to look at. I'm just really disappointed in how long they've taken to bring the final 3.x to 'market'.
