Default New to BlackBerry- how would i get BBM on a 7230?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there,
I'm new to the world of BlackBerrys; I have an iPhone atm and just bought a cheap old unlocked 7230 off eBay so I can use BBM and talk to all of my friends who have BBs (Im the only one with an iPhone )

How would I install the messenger onto the phone? do i need the desktop manager?

I figure that I cant just use appworld to get it on there as I need 4.2 software and the 7230 just goes up to 4.0?

Oh, also, I have a mac.

Thank you!!

I don't know if you can even install BBM on a 7230. I think years ago I installed the first BBM on a 7100t, so maybe you can. But you can google that question.

The bigger question is, do you have a blackberry data plan?

Take a look first at BlackBerry Wallpapers, Ringtones, and More with your blackberry browser. You must use the blackberry browser. Look around and follow any links for Blackberry Messenger. I expect if there is a version that will run on the 7230, you will find it that way, and you will be able to download it OTA (over the air) directly to the device.

Hit http://www.blackberry.com/messenger using your browser and it would install version 1.0.94 that OS 4.x supports.

okay I've set up the BB data plan with Orange and it's sorted out- it doesn't say "data connection refused" Anymore, it now says Orange.

But I don't have a browser on the home screen:S it's there in options>applications but not on the menu? How would I get it there? Thanks for all your help!

Some times it takes a while to process. I think US carriers say up to 24 hours, though I've never had to wait that long.

Did you actually get to the page when you were online where you enter the device PIN, etc, and did you save it, and did you get some kind of confirmation at that point, before you tried resending service books?

If you bought the blackberry plan online, then it would make sense it would take a while to process. But that's me speculating. I did it once online in the morning and it was late afternoon before it was pushed to the blackberry. If it's going on 12 hours now since you did it, it won't hurt to call the service provider's customer service and make sure something hasn't gone wrong.

It is likely that the version of BBM you have to run on the 7230 does not support groups.

Yeah, the old BBM 1.x doesn't support groups and other features such as pictures and file sending.

You need a BlackBerry data plan on your account and then the browser should show up.
