Well after installing the new OS i haven't seen the memory problem. i would say its a bug in the bb os but using emv exposes the bug and and makes the problem much worse.

you haven't lost your logs because you reboot everytime you memory gets low. if it went to zero, you would suffer the loss.

I do not use Empower but still suffer from "memory leak". I use BBSmart Viewer now but the memory leak happened before I installed BBSmart Viewer. After more than 10 years of using SMS, call logs and e-mails on portable devices, this is the FIRST time that I have lost all of them. Thanks a lot, RIM/BlackBerry!

Did switching to the new Optus OS solve the problem? I had this issue occur twice in the past month - wiping out ALL (hundreds) of my messages (I use an exchange server and file all my messages in subfolders in my inbox). I didn't realize what caused the problem, but did notice after the second occurence that my memory was at zero. Upon reflection, the "wipe-out" happened both times while I was viewing a message with the Emplower viewer. I love the application, and would love to keep using it. So, was it an OS issue?

I got some memory leakage too it seems. I realized that mine was unbelievably slow--much slower than at first. then I noticed I was losing emails, sms, & phone log. I had 0 free memory. I don't run empower, but I do have a pqi 2gb microSD. I did format the card in the unit and I also loaded everything using the Roxio media manager (vs as a mass storage device in windows explorer) I only have google maps in addition to the normal list of attws programs

as far as i know, switching to the new os solved the problem BUT the battery life with that os was so bad i ended up switching back.

Gee... so I guess the 8300 Curve also have memory leaks too... I hope RIM solve the problem by the time T-mobile release 8300 Curve.
