Default 'blocked senders' email gets through to BB, but not outlook

Please Login to Remove!

I have had a few instances where email that obviously matches a 'blocked senders' list and gets through to the blackberry, but is still filtered at the client and gets sent to the 'junk' folder in outlook. Anyone know why this is? Is it being scanned by the BES before it is processed by the blocked senders list on the exchange server?

Thanks,

Exchange isn't qualifying the emails as spam, Outlook is. Invest in some rule based software for the enterprise - I highly recommend Mail Marshall - it's so customizable but easy to use out of the box. It's way up there on our favorite pieces of software that we've purchased.

In other words... your Outlook filters do not extend to your BlackBerry. You will likely need to add filters on the BES as well.

get a barracdua spam filter appliance and you will never look back.
They also have a 30 day trial too.

Mine has been rock solid for over 2 years and people here have asked how we do it because it works better than their personal ISP spam filters.

Even my buddy bought one for his workplace and they love it.

Or an Ironport Appliance, another appliance that you will never have to look back from.

I've had them in place for about 4 years and they filter out about 98.3% of spam received on a daily basis. They're expensive for the mid to large company units, but they have small business units to I believe.

We already have external spam filtering by a third party - . The issue is that if something does get through and it does match the client blocked list, it still shows up on the blackberry but not in the outlook client inbox (moved to junk folder). Does the BES scan the inbox and forward the msg onto the handheld before the blocked list can be filtered?

We've already answered that? Anything that Outlook does isn't reflective in the BB - consider what would happen if the email came in if you didn't even have Outlook open - there's no filtering on the server side - only client side.

Yah because the blocked list is stored on the client (Outlook) and most times the I will get an email on my blackberry before it shows up in Outlook

I had the same problem. I created an app that synchronizes with the Outlook blocked senders list and deletes email from those senders directly on the Blackberry.

It's available at mailoverload.com. It also let's you add senders to the blocked senders list directly on the Blackberry.
