Question "mobile backup has been disabled by IT policy" ?

Please Login to Remove!

Yesterday, I replaced a 9000 with a 9700 using the switch device wizard.
All went well, until the 9700 prompted the user for a restart during the activation ( actually 2 restarts happend ):

A message came up: "mobile backup has been disabled by IT policy".

However, activation finished sucessful. The 9700 works as expected.

Still, I am not sure about the status of the wireless backup.
In the BES 4.x console, you could see with one click if the wireless backup is on or off.
in the V5 console, I cant find this. I also searched the IT policy for something which allows the wireless backup to be switched of or on, but found nothing.

Google also does not know about this messge.

I dont care about the message, if this occures during an activation, but If the wireless backup is really disabled, this would be fatal, because not all the time you have the original blackberry to do a switch to a new one.

Where can I see if wireless backup is on or off in the console of the BES v5 ?

thanks.

Update: Again the same message appeared on the 9700 during normal usage.
Something must be wrong.

When I view the "messaging configuration" I see that there is "automatic wireless backup" is set to YES.

I tried to activate the Device again. During the activation the message appears again.

Regarding the IT policy: I did not change anything. It is nearly identical to the default policy.
Tried to set the device to back to the default policy. But in the device information I still see the old one. EVen if the new policy was queued sucessful.

Looks, like I have to zero the Device and start from scratch.

any other Ideas ?

This error message is not talking about the wireless backup. It is talking about a program that is distributed by some carriers. This program is called "mobile backup". There is a policy to disable it, see details on:

Allow T-Mobile Mobile Backup Contact Sync IT policy rule

Thank you very much freakinvibe,
I was minutes away from erasing the Blackberry.....

That sounds reasonable.

( I meanwhile could activate the BB sucessful and set the IT policy after fixing a problem in the SQL database)
