Default Tethering via Bluetooh very slow?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone... I am running a Thinkpad T43p. I have recently setup my blackberry bold 9000 to tether on the rogers network. Via USB, speeds are pretty good (2500Kbps roughly).

However, anytime I try to tether with bluetooth the speeds are terrible (500kbps MAX).

Is this a limitation of bluetooth? I have both modems setup on Windows XP (the bluetooth and USB modem for blackberry) setup to the maximum serial speed.

Any help is appreciated.

The T43 probably uses an older version of Bluetooth. You can do a google search, start with buletooth wiki, and you'll find the information for connection speed with each version. Compare that with your T43 version, don't forget you'll have overhead so 1m/s in connection speed doesn't translate to that in data transfer rate.
If that turns out to be the problem, you can always add an external bluetooth adapter, they're relatively cheap and very low profile.

I've been tethering with Bluetooth on my Macbook Pro and I think it totally depends on what you are doing. Plus when you use Windows + AT&T Connection Manager, it compresses images and such to make it feel faster.
