I doubt they will do that. Competition drives innovation, so if HTC or Samsung release some innovative device, it will force Motorola (now owned by Google) to stay competitive. Apple only releases one device a year on average. Android devices are released basically ever week, or so it seems. Also, it is still the Android Platform, so it is in Google's favor there as well.
I don't see how this will help RIM in any way.
