Default RIM needs a back bone

This has been bugging me for awhile and while the latest advertising is great to showcase the Blackberry platform I wish they get out there and tout they already had or have almost the same major apps Apple likes to "showcase".

I will admit Blackberry will never have the level of apps or as many games - but for the really good apps that people use daily. They have a solid share or the same apps I frequently see in full page USA today ads.

Hopefully they hit the ground running when the App Centre or whatever the name winds up being. Does anyone even know how many total apps are available on Blackberry?

You are correct on this. I love my blackberry. I am a little embarrassed to admit this, but the first thing I do in the morning is grab my blackberry and a cigarette. But I love it.

They need to make the development a little simpler. The have GOT to make the visual studio component work better. It works, but you don't have power in developing from the JDE. There are so many VS developers that are used to the environment and the JDE is a big leap back in development speed.

I can't wait for the AppStore to open. It sounds goofy, but I wrote a FartMachine application and I want to sell it. The key thing the must do is make it easy for people to purchase and install the applications. No more than a couple trackball clicks to purchase. They need to make it easy for the customer to purchase the apps. Maybe a text message charge that could be issued to the carrier.

I think RIM's head is slowing coming out of their asses.

I Repeat: I love my blackberry

The AppStore will certainly bring some new stuff into our BlackBerry world, but it probably be a love/hate type thing..

The CrackBerry Podcast has hit a great point that with an AppStore people might go App crazy and install every app under the sun, So some people with the older BlackBerries (With 48 MB of of RAM) might start messing up thier BlackBerry temp.

Just a thought.

A problem that could be easily solved if RIM allowed programs to be installed to the SD card.

Very true, but I am sure it would become a security issue at some point.
