Question Blackberry Manager silent install

Please Login to Remove!

Guys,

I hope someone has come across this before or has actually carried this out. I would like to know if it is possible and how to carry out a silent install of the blackberry manager console so it can be pushed from a central point to support staff.

RIM don't have a guide on this nor do T-Mobile UK.

Can anyone advise.

BES version is 4.1.3 for exchange.

Thanks,

Lamo

I feel like I've read something about scripting the installation with command line options but can't find it to save my life ... it could have been about the desktop manager and not the bes manager; still looking.

cool cheers. I have found a lot of stuff for desktop manger but nothing for Blackberry manager.

I called RIM yesterday and we had an interesting discussion on how they think it would be possible either by creating an answer file or using something like SMS or LAN manager.

They have not tried it yet nor have I but I think it would be eaiser as always if there is a process already out there. I appreciate you taking the time to look at this for me.

SMS or some other 3rd party solution will definitely work (even though repackaging MSIs isn't recommended it does work) ... still pokin around.

Get the support staff to install it themselves - nothing like a good bit of experience for them!

I'm all for making life easy, but how much time do you want to waste figuring out how you do it, and in the meantime your support staff don't have access to the stuff they need!!!

My thoughts exactly........

If it was me I would have the support staff install it themselves but it's not for me. It is for a company that I support but I don't call the shots on this one.

I just work for T-MobileUK

I say don't even install it and buy a 3rd party solution that'll replace the BES Manager all together :-p

But seriously if you want the BES Manager to still be used remotely, I'd go the route of creating a VM and having people connect to that VM to manage the BES. The less BES Managers out there the better when it comes to upgrade time.
