Default 9780 runs mail setup screen unprompted

Please Login to Remove!

As above, my BB 9780 seems to run the mail setup (create e-mail account) screen completely unprompted. This seems to happen most often when network coverage drops and returns, even if the gap is miliseconds. Is this a network/SIM card issue or something with the device.

Note that I never had this issue when in the Netherlands and using a Vodafone subscription. The issue has arisen when I am in Malaysia and using my Celcom Malaysia subscription (note that Celcom is a Vodafone company/affiliate).

Any ideas anyone?

Do you register the device on Celcom's BIS service when in Malaysia?

Do you remove the PIN from your Vodafone BIS as well?

I'm guessing I did not remove it since I have no idea how to do that/or that I needed to. I effectively left the Netherlands, cancelled my Vodafone subscription, arrived here, signed up with Celcom and slotted my new SIM into the device. Incidentally, we've done exactly the same with my wife's Curve 8900, and are having no issues with that device.

Wondering if the Cellcom carrier will work with a phone locked to another carrier.

The do have an online help site. It may be helpful to ask them.

Was your wife's 8900 on an active subscription on Vodafone?

Cool, thanks for the link. The phone was not locked, as it was acquired independently (airport duty free store). I was on a Vodafone prepaid . My wife's phone was on a KPN subscription (and was acquired through them, also unlocked). A little confused by this all.
