Default Bad keypad painting?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

Just received my new Blackberry 9700 today. It's my first Blackberry phone.

The first thing I discovered was the bad painting of the keypad.
The key next to the trackpad (left and right) are not painted right.

As you can see: It's on the upper and lower side of the button
Do you guys have the same "problem"?

Thanks

Maaij

mine looks like that on the upper side of the keys but not the lower side. the fact that its not consistent makes me think its a flaw

Flaw or more than likely a limitation of the manufacturing process during the molding.

Dude! Are you seriously troubled by this???

I sometimes feel that these type of posts are a joke.

If you are really bothered about a light leak, you're going to have a hard time finding a decent hone in today's market.

Is it PAINT on the buttons that is wrong or you can see the light coming from UNDER a button?
OMG! I JUST shut off the lights in the room (too check out your problem )and I can see what you mean! (I actually like this keyboard...but that is me).

I think it is the way the button is made. I have never noticed it before. You would have to be in a very dark room to see this. The light escapes a bit from the return and blackberry buttons.....it doesn't bother me but I just saw it now after shutting off the lights.

I would return the blackberry and buy another type of phone if this bothers you.

The new android (google) phones are very cool! t-mobile, Sprint and Verizon have different google phones.

OMG there is light leaking between the keyboard keys too! FLAW FLAW....seriously you need to get a life if you think that because you hold your phone at a 5 degree angle and can spot a minuscule amount of light leaking under a key that it is flawed...

The poster is from Europe. I don't mind the keyboard but let's not be the nasty Canadian or nasty American here

Yeah, I have had the 9700 for 6 weeks and just noticed it today when I shut off the lights...but that is me...I don't care.

If the poster doesn't like the blackberry, they should buy another phone.

There is simply no such thing as a Perfect device that is Perfectly manufactured. If we all looked hard enough at our BB's, we'd all find some little thing.

On mine, I noticed right off the bat that my number 3 key has a small bleed from the black into the white, so the backside of the #3 isn't as sharp as the others. Everything is solid, works very well so I don't care about a little thing like that.

So I got out my electron microscope the other day so I could look at my 9700, and guess what I found? Damn it all if RIM didn't put a dent in one of the atoms that makes up the phone! Why can't they get it right? Cheap workmanship if you ask me.

I suspect most 9700s are like this. Don't worry about it. Mine is the same way. Now if you had paint missing on top of the buttons then it would be more worth complaining about.

i'm a guess since its plastic, and came off an assembly line that probably where the next set of keys connected to those. and when cut cause to not be painted.

it is not painted on the sides so that the light shines through easier and to make it brighter, I think

This is the answer.

During casting or molding the liquid plastic is poured into the mold through a hole. If wax patterns are used, this hole is part of a passage that separates the different parts of the sprue. In the latter case the end result is many plastic pieces attached to a central branch and resembles a tree. It is then spray painted while in this form (since individual pieces will be hard to coat evenly at reasonable cost), then the pieces are cut off the sprue and assembled.

The parts without paint are where the keys were attached to the sprue.
