Default New OS7 freezing my BBM and Data use

Please Login to Remove!

Ever since I switch to the 9900 from my 9800 and 9700 I have been getting the clock symbol whenever I try to send a BBM, not the hourglass but a clock symbol where the s,d,r icon usually is.

At the same time when my BBM is down which is usually 30 minutes after a battery pull by Data for internet, Facebook, Twitter and other apps do not work either.

After another battery Pull then it repeats itself, I am getting very impatient since I never had this issue before.

1 issue that may be causing this and I will test it out tonight is that my SIM Card are 1st generation 3G SIM Cards and since these BlackBerry's are H+ I may need to replace the sim cards.

Has anyone else had issues before, please feel free to post below.

Thank you in advance for all your help.

If you did a "device switch" to migrate to your 9900, your problem may well be that.

What you may need to do now, is wipe the device (javaloader) and re-install the latest OS, backing up your data beforehand.

Then, once the device is back up online with the new OS, do a selective restore and only install exactly what you need. Recreate your profiles and device settings - do not restore them.

This should fix your problem.

I contacted Rogers, I perform a complete wipe, left it all with factory apps and setting, we even installed a new 3G Sim Card and the same issue.

We came to conclusion that there is an issue while it is set to 3G/H+.

When I switch it to EDGE while it is not working under 3G/H+ it then starts to work.

So Rogers is aware now that there is an issue while under 3G/H+

I have 3 OS7 Devices, 2 which are 9900 and 1 that is 9860.

all 3 work fine under EDGE setting and go dead under 3G/H+

If anyone work for BlackBerry Technical please help me

Not sure how that can happen to 3 phones that you own. Don't think it's hardware though. You don't have some rogue 3rd party app installed on them that can be causing this issue? Are you on a BES by some chance?

i have done a complete wipe and left the factory installed apps on the BB's and it works 100% on EDGE and when on 3G/H+ it works fine for the first 30 minutes then it starts to lag and stop using data, ten it starts, then it stops. Rogers is saying that BlackBerry is still bring to catch up from the 3 day outage and that is who there are intermittent service. I find that to be a lame excuse.

I'm experiencing the same issue and I need to reboot my device once or twice a day. I did do a device switch so my plan now is to completely wipe it and start from scratch. This 9900 has been a complete dog for me but the issues seem to be software related so my ASSumption is that something, somewhere is corrupted. If the wipe/reload doesn't fix it I'm breaking out the hammer. I'm completely fed up.

I haven't tried the EDGE thing but I do know my 9900 has a HELL of a time if I've got WiFi enabled and the network strength is low (then again, when is it ever NOT low with this device?) and I do think that's hardware and OS related. Signal strength in general is a lot worse on my 9900 than it is on my 9700.

It is NOT a RIM server issue. Whoever @ Rogers said that has no clue. You never answered my posted questions above though...might be a clue in there.

There's a new official release out now....474. It does address a bunch of previously known issues. Time to upgrade again - LOL

I spoke to soon, started to freeze and no data on 3G, I believe the issue is when it looses signal and goes down to edge then back to 3G it just doesn't connect and stays in Limbo.

If i manually switch to EDGE then its fine. I hope it is a software issue. I am going to download 7.0.0.474 and see what happens

If you're saying that you already upgraded from a previous OS to .440 and you have the same issues, you're going to have the same issues with .474 IMO. Something's just not adding up.

This is what I'd do...

1) Javaload/Wipe the device so it won't boot anymore - very, very important step.
2) Start the upgrade using the loader.exe program and REMOVE all of the social feeds through the DM during the upgrade - if this fixes the problem, you can always add them back later.

Test for a few days - but here's the trick. If you never wiped the device - and you did a device switch to get your 9900 up on the network, you're probably experiencing these issues because of that. RIM has a bulletin on the 99xx /OS7 device switch and some of the side effects. This is why I am suggesting a full device wipe/format!

Guys
I bought my 9900 in the USA and live in Australia and use Telstra.

Can you please tell me where I can update my OS 7 to the latest version please, I am having the freezing problem too.

When I check for updates on the handset, it says it is up to date, but it has the first version I bought it with.

Any help greatly appreciated.
