Default Is there a failsafe reliable way to sync a mac to a BB?

Please Login to Remove!

I am seriously considering getting an 8830 to upgrade from my treo, but it concerns me that RIM does not officially support Macs. All of my work is done on my Mac Pro and MacBook Pro, and I don't have the time to goof with trying to get stuff to work. I have read about the missing sync and Pocketmac, and it seems that they are not 100% reliable. Is that true?

Missing Sync is absolutely 100% reliable in my opinion and experience.

I agree, Missing Sync has worked every time for me with no issues.

But you can't install software and update the phone, correct?

Currently, no. Mark/Space is working on an install conduit for Missing Sync.

Here's an open question for all you Mac users: Could you not use one of the third-party BlackBerry SyncML plug-ins listed on the Linux forum and bypass PocketMac/MissingSync altogether?

Livelink - Redirection

Use link to download pdf file of pocketmac instructions and go to page #38 where it will tell you how to install software on to your phone.

Well, good to know it works!

I think I may wait 14 days until iMobimac comes out and see if that is a reliable modem program. If so, I guess I'll try and sucker VZW into getting me a cheap/free 8830, and test it out for a little bit.

One more question, what aobut syncing to 2 computers? I have my MBP and my Mac Pro, and I'd like to keep both up to date. Is there a way to get only the most recent stuff to overwrite? (EX: If I update something on my MacBook Pro, sync it to my BB, and then sync it to my Mac Pro, that most recent event/contact shows up on all three. If I update something on the Mac Pro, it does the same thing, or if I update the BB, it will copy to both)

For me, the best sync to the MAC is BES with Parallels and running outlook, or before that I did Entourage with the BES.

But who wants to start up Parallels just to sync a pocket device?

Well I actually never shut down parallels, but anyway I don't really have to do anything, since its bes, the sync is wireless. My wife uses Entourage with her BES for a wireless sync
