Default Blackberry cannot send (can receive)

Complex issue for a non-blackberry guy like myself.

I have a server with Exchange '03 and BES installed. I have 9 BB users already setup. Keep in mind that the setup i'm about to describe has been working for a year and a half. Each user accesses exchange with Outlook on their pc. Each outlook has the Exchange server as an account AND their external pop3 account as primary.

The server handles calendar sharing and interoffice email, but does NOT send email to the outside world. Recently, we switched to another internet provider (dynamic ip). One of my users stated that she couldn't send emails from BB any more. It would go "red x" immediatly. I reset her phone and reactivated with the server and the problem went away, but now she can only send emails to people with domains being hosted by our email provider. Everyone else fails to recieve it.

I recently sent an email to a hotmail address and was returned the following "undeliverable" error message:

<server01.[internaldomain.net] #5.5.0 smtp;550 DY-001
Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. We generally do not accept email from dynamic IP's as they are not typically...

Am I to gather that the message is somehow being sent through the server rather than to go back to the users outlook and be sent via normal pop3???

This is a terrible setup, I know. I inherited this and will begin implementing changes once I get approval (a long and irritating process...). Any help would be appriciated.

BES doesn't care how your Outlook is setup, so it doesn't care about your POP3/SMTP setup. It will send and receive e-mails via Exchange.

Unless you haven't setup a second BIS account on the Blackberry device, the user can only send and receive through Exchange. If Exchange is on a dynamic IP address, some e-mail server might reject your e-mail as they consider it as spam.

You should either get a static IP address or route all your mail through your provider's e-mail server.

so you are using BES, when you send email to hotmail, have you try both from device and mail server ?
