Default OS: 8830 4.5.0.253/4.5.0.160 (Multilanguage)(ESN Devices)

Please Login to Remove!

This will load on ANY carrier's 8830 by following the instructions below.
This is only for the 8830 model
(ESN based model)
From Telus Mobility

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.253 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.253
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.160
* Software Platform: 3.4.0.41
* File name: 8830AMEA_PBr4.5.0_rel253_PL3.4.0.41_A4.5.0.160_Tel us_Mobility.exe
* File size: 82.57MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...E607FE7CC0E1A0

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8830:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Previous OS here:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...n-devices.html

How to determine if you have an ESN or MEID based device.

From the main menu, select Options, then select Status.
ESN devices - On the Status screen you will see ESN on the display
MEID devices – On the Status screen you will see MEID on the display.
NOTE – You cannot install ESN-based software on a MEID device, nor can you install MEID-based software on an ESN device. They are NOT interchangeable.

Works flawlessly on my Verizon 8830WE. Actually gave me better memory handling over the .138 software.

Hi,
That was my biggest problem. I went to use voice dialing and it would not work. I turned here and to a Sprint user forum and heard about the "Memory leaks" I looked at my available memory and alas it was at "0". I had to reboot everyday or two.
Cross your fingers!!

Default High pitched chirp in calls

Is anyone getting a high pitched chirp during calls? It happens every few minutes during a phone call, after loading this OS.

Default Upgraded on May 30th

So far, it's been a solid build. I've been having major memory leaks with .138 and below, rebooting 2-3x a day. With .160, I've rebooted maybe twice in 4+ days, and the memory fluctuates btwn 500K to 4MB of free space.

Since I upgraded, I have noticed my 8830 acts up when I plug it into the
car charger.

Sometimes the red light stays on
Sometimes it locks up
Sometimes it will appear to be locked up with the red light on it will reboot

Anyone else have this happening ?

Unfortunately same here. Doubt we can do much to remediate it ourselves.

I am getting the chirp on nearly every other call. Additionally I noticed today that my ringer profiles changed themselves. Wondering if this release is more trouble than its worth!

I have not seen this problem at all. Maybe your OS load was bad? And I've been running for a week now.
